Introduction:
Land use: land use means the human’s use of land that includes how humans are using land for e.g.
agriculture, residential, commercial, industrial development, etc.
Land use planning seeks to order and regulate land use in an efficient and ethical way, thus preventing
land use conflicts.
Transportation planning: It involves the planning required to provide necessary transportation facilities
to society/community. (Generally streets, highways, footpaths and public transport lines)
Transport Planning is defined as planning requires in the operation, provision and management of
facilities and services for the modes of transport to achieve safer, faster, comfortable, convenient,
economical and environment-friendly movement of people and goods.
Land use might not seem like the most exciting topic, buts it’s important to study. First, it tells us a great
deal about the governments making the decisions for land use and the priorities they hold. Also, the
better we understand the way the world has been adapted to human needs, and in what patterns, the
more we can predict future trends. And, the better we can predict the future of land use, the more we
can prepare for negative impacts.

2) Livable Walkable Communities are municipalities that provide facilities to promote walking,
bicycling, services, and activities that promote a healthier lifestyle.
3) Access Management is the ability to control the number and location of access points to a
property.
Adopting these strategies in Planning activity as land use and transportation policies and in Zoning as
development standards, and implementing them will significantly improve the outputs.
Zoning- regulates the types of activities that can be accommodated on a given piece of land, as well as
the amount of space devoted to those activities, and the ways that buildings may be situated and
shaped.
BENEFITS:
1) Transport Land is used for roads, railways, subways, or airports: anything that transports people
or goods.
2) Recreational Land is used for human pleasure. This mostly includes parks, museums, sports
grounds, and the sites of other activities that aren’t essential to life but are pleasurable. (fun,
non-essentials like parks)
4) Residential- housing
• The major issue with the land use is that the migration of population from rural to urban which
changed the usage of land.
This developed a need of creating transportation facilities such as roads, driveway access points,
sidewalks, and bike routes, etc. These facilities are the result of land use decisions.
