Simple Past

Use the Simple Past to talk about finished actions in the past. It indicates that an activity or situation began and ended
at a particular time in the past. It is the same for all persons. Use the base form of the verb after Did…? and didn’t for
negatives and questions.

Regular Past

Affirmative I worked at the weekend.

Yes/No Interrogative Did You work at the weekend?

No, I didn’t.
Negative I didn’t work at the weekend.

Irregular Past

Affirmative He went to a concert yesterday.

Yes/No Interrogative Yes, he did.

Negative He didn’t go to a concert yesterday.
