Dear Families,
The children were very excited about having their grandparents/family/friend
come and eat in the cafeteria with them last week. You are more than welcome at any
time to come and eat with us. We’d be glad to have you in the classroom to volunteer, as
well. You could read stories to the children in the book area or do an art activity. Please,
let us know of a time you’d like to come in. We’d be glad to have you (just remember
you need to have filled out the youth leader form). This week we will be learning about
feelings. The goals for the week are to recognize our own feelings, as well as the feelings
of others. We’ll also be working on how our behavior affects the feelings of others.
At Home:
1. Show an emotion on your face and have your child guess what feeling you are
showing.
2. Tell your child an emotion (happy, sad, mad, tired, scared…). While looking in
the mirror have them make that face.
3. Name an event, food or object (i.e. snakes, going swimming, dogs, bugs, eating
ice cream…) and ask them how it makes them feel.
We do have classroom celebrations and parties throughout the year. Please let me know if
there’s any holiday or other event that your family doesn’t participate in so we can make
other arrangements. We’d also like to teach the children how other cultures/countries
celebrate holidays. If you would like to share any traditions during the holidays, please let
us know.
Newsletter:
For those that wanted the option of receiving the newsletter through email, we
will start that next week. If you have not received it by next Monday evening, please
contact me so I can figure out why you didn’t receive one. Also, at any time you can
change your mind and request a hard copy of the newsletter again.
