NIGER STATE NOLGASS RECONSTITUTION MEETING HELD AT THE NIGER STATE

AGENCY FOR MASS EDUCATION ON 21ST NOVEMBER, 2017

Niger state NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION ON LITERACY SUPPORT SERVICES

(NOLGASS) met to deliberate on the reconstitution of the non-governmental organization in

Niger state and the meeting began with an opening prayer by Mal. Garba Usman the meeting
started at about 11:00am.

Dr. A.A Olojede asked the members to make a self and formal introduction of the participants

DR. A.A Olojede said that the essence of the meeting is to deliberate on the formation of
NOLGASS in Niger state. He said that NOLGASS existed in the past but because of the demise of
the leader of NOLGASS, it couldn’t function but there was advice from the NOGLASS
headquarter to reconstitute the NOGLASS Niger state chapter and that is the essence of the
meeting even though other state have similar challenges but it has been reconstituted and
therefore same gesture is happening in Niger state.

The NOLGASS headquarters intends to visit Niger state chapter later when reconstituted and
also ensure that the body pay a visit to the state governor among others to strengthen the body
towards fighting illiteracy in Niger state.

Dr .A.A Olojede advised the participants who have hint/information about the former NOLGASS
body in Niger state to share it so as to know how to move on towards reconstituting the
NOLGASS.

The Niger state agency director said, she can’t say much but the former director of the agency
is in the best position to tell the participants more about NOLGASS but that shouldn’t stop the
intention of Dr.AA Olojede to reconstitute the body. She advised that the present participants
should support Dr.A.A Olojede towards the realization of these objectives.

Mal. Alhassan .N. Audu advised that we move ahead so as to ensure that the purpose of the
meeting is being achieved.

Mal. Garba Usman advised that we should try and consult the former exco’s so as not to
encounter problem because we don’t know why NOLGASS broke up in the past.

CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH THE NIGER STATE NOGLASS

The participants advised that we should move on with the intention of reconstituting the
NOLGASS while the agency for mass education Director ( Niger state) make effort to get
information about the past NOLGASS exco’s so as to understand the activities of the past
executives.

Hajia Tayibat advised that we should forge ahead while we await the outcome of getting
information of the past executives on NOLGASS in Niger state.

Dr. A.A Olojede suggested that Alhassan .N. Audu, Hajia Tayibat .K. Ogunba, Hajia Hassana
Garba.

It was agreed by the participants that they should move on while they await the report of the
executives of NOLGASS in Niger state.

Dr.A.A Olojede emphasized the essence of registering with Abuja NOLGASS to ensure they
benefit some assistance from the international donors and that he has paid some fees
therefore the need to reconstitute the NGO’s in Niger state. That it is through NOGLASS Niger
state chapter that they should register with Abuja National body.

There were several suggestion on the registration of NGO’s but there was consensus and
resolve that Niger state chapter should comply and register its NGO’s here (Niger state) then
take to Abuja for recognition and registration.

Hajia Taibat advised that we should clean our house before going out that therefore we should
register the NGO’s here.

A call was put through to the president of NOLGASS in Abuja,he spoke to the participants and
the concerted effort made so far by Dr.A.A Olojede and the need to further reconstitute the
body in Niger State. He said the Federal Ministry of Education, UNESCO and others are willing
to partner with the NGO's in Niger state but apart from lapai literacy clinic center there is no
NGO in place so he advised that Niger state should constitute their own body so as to work
well.

The president promised that he will be available in Minna to brief members but he should be
pre-informed so as to prepare.

Hajia Taibat advised that the NGO’s should be in body so as to fight for the general interest of
the members. She advised that is for the collective interest of the NGO’s in Niger state.

Mal. Muh’d .D. Mustapha advised that they should constitute executives where he advised that
Dr. A.A.Olojede been the president, other executives should be constituted.

Registration with corporate affairs commission is very essential but Lapai literacy clinic has
done it own.

A Whatsapp group was suggested by Dr A.A.Olojede to enable the PRO and the secretary to link
members up on social platform for information dissemination.

Another meeting is scheduled to hold on 12-12-2017, No lateness to meeting and that the first
three participants shall be rewarded according to Hajia taibat Olabajo.

It was concluded that all the NGO’S in the state should be contacted to ensure that NGO’S are
reached out to.

Closing prayers was anchored by Madam Sarah Yusuf.
