T-Ss 7 min
Aim: to introduce the theme of the lesson – touristic attractions in Ss-T
London
Procedure: To set up a framework of the lesson, T begins by asking the
students the following question: “Have you heard of the London Eye, The
Tower of London, Tower Bridge or Madame Tussauds?” She encourages
them to respond with “Yes, I have heard of...” or “No, I have not heard
of them.”
If the answer is positive, then the teacher will ask further details from Ss.
Afterwards, she sticks on the blackboard some information regarding these
touristic attractions and some pictures of the actual places. (Appendix 1)
Ss have to do a matching game.
T addresses Ss with the following: “Now that you know what the capital of
the United Kingdom has to offer, imagine a scenario in which you have
stayed in London for a week as tourists. What have you been doing?”
T explains that they have to express their ideas using ‘I have been…’
structure and the visual support she provides (Appendix 2). She listens to
some of the students’ sentences and asks them to come and write some of
their examples on the blackboard.

Appendix 1
The London Eye is three times higher than Tower Bridge. From its 32 glass observation pods
you can see the whole of London.
4
Madame Tussauds is the perfect place to find all those famous people who you want to see and
you can ask a friend to take a photo of you standing next to them. Of course, they’re not
real.They’re all made of wax.
5
Tower Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in London. Every day a lot of traffic crosses the
bridge. The traffic has to stop when a big ship arrives and then the two parts of the bridge are
raised so that the ship can come through. High up between the towers of the bridge there is a
walkway.
6
The Tower of London was built in 1078. First it was a castle and later a prison. Now lots of
people visit it because they want to see the Crown Jewels. The guards of the Tower wear a red
and black uniform.

FORM
Examples:
Actions that occurred in the past and have results in the present
We use the Present Perfect to say that an action happened at an unspecified time
before now. The exact time is not important.. We use the Present Perfect with unspecific
expressions such as: ever, never, once, many times, several times, before, so far,
already, yet etc.
FORM
Examples:
We use the Present Perfect Continuous to show that something started in the past and
has continued up until now. "For five minutes," "for two weeks," and "since Tuesday" are
all durations which can be used with the Present Perfect Continuous.
9
You can also use the Present Perfect Continuous WITHOUT a duration such as "for two
weeks." Without the duration, the tense has a more general meaning of "lately." We
often use the words "lately" or "recently" to emphasize this meaning.
Appendix 4
1) Match the effects (in the present) with their causes (in the past):
a. I’ve broken my leg. - - - 3) I have been running after my dog.
b. I cut myself.
c. I’ve burnt my hand.
d. His hair is wet.
e. Our house looks great.
f. Why is my pen knife blunt?
