Overview We will be describing the definition of cults, categorizing 3 specific types of

“cults” in western society.

Objective To expand the generalization of the word “cult”. Hopefully by the end of my
lesson plan, students will have a better understanding of the broad spectrum
of the word cult and all of its sub- categories.

Materials PowerPoint presentation, Computer, internet connection

Activities and procedures There will be a fluid discussion throughout the presentation to incorporate
class participation as well as a mini quiz at the end.

Conclusions In conclusion, the class should be able to identify at least 3 different categories
of cults. They should be able to define the word cults. In the end, hey should
be able to understand New Religious movements.
