•  Open remote desktop connection to PCLHCB66

•  On the Desktop open the folder ‘Telecope Motion Control rev 2.0’

•  Open the vi ‘Telescope Motion Control.vi’

•  Select Data Acquisition and Write Data To File

•  Turn on T1, T2 and RH1

•  Run the VI

3

Monitoring
•  The Temperature and Humidity
can be monitored via the charts
to the Right of the VI

•  The Values are also displayed to

the left of the temperature chart
4

•  Turn on PS1 (Telescope),

PS2(Telescope), PS3 (DUT)

•  Select whether the PS3 DUT

bias is +ve or –ve (green +ve red
–ve), it is not possible to set the
voltage with a different sign to
the chosen bias

•  Set ‘default value’ of power

supplies to 1V (this is an initial
value to be set and cannot
exceed ±10V, if the DUT Bias is
–ve set this to -1V)

5

•  Login and check the High

voltage Limits

•  This section is password

protected

•  The hardware limit should

be set to one of the
accepted values for the
Keithleys

•  NOTE: To change the

hardware limit ramp down,
turn off output, set value and
turn back on (the OVP is set
when first initialized)

•  The software limits can be

set to any value

•  This section also protects

homing of the stages

6

•  Press ‘Turn on Selected Power Supplies’

•  To ramp up the voltage enter the desired

value into ‘set voltage’ for the
corresponding power supply and press
‘set PSX’

•  When ramping up ensure that the set

value is reached. If it is not then pre ‘set
PSX’ again

•  Use the reset buttons to reset the power

supplies this ramps down the voltage to
0, resets the instrument and then resets
to the ‘default voltage’ value (to be safe
you can set to zero before pressing
‘reset’)

7

•  To see the actual Current and

Voltage measurement see the
‘Voltages’ Section, the large
circular indicator shows if the
power supply is on or off

•  This also displays the stage

positions

•  The Current can also be

monitored using the centre graph
of the right of the vi

Eugenia Price
8

•  To ramp down the power

supplies set the voltage as
previously to 0.

•  Again ensure the voltage

reaches zero and press set
again if it is not reached

•  Once all Power supplies are

ramped down select ‘’Stop High
Voltage Output”

•  To turn the high voltage back on,

as previously, check limits, select
the power supplies and press
‘Turn on Selected Power
Supplies’

9

•  To Move the Telescope enter the

desired value, select steps/ mm
and press move

•  To Home login to the protected

tab

•  The current position can be seen

by looking at the web cam image

Eugenia Price
10

•  Set the position and angles of

the Centre Stage and Outer
Stage using the windows to the
left of the VI

•  To Home these stages again

login to the protected tab

•  To Terminate Movement press

‘Stop Movements’

•  When you are finished press

‘Stop Program’ to terminate the
entire vi

Power supply on after vi terminated

•  If the Power supplies do not display ‘output off’ then run
the following vi’s to ramp them down and turn the output
off

•  Go to Desktop/Eugenia/Telescope_Slow_Control_2014

•  Run the FAULT_RUN_PS1...vi for the given power supply
