Central Focus The focus of this lesson is to engage student with recent Presidential
nominees, and to engage them into popular topics of debate.
Essential Strategy
For students, research will be essential to understanding topics they may
not know. During the assessment, students will be allowed to look up (e.g.
google) any topic or information they may not know.

Central Focus
The main purpose of this assessment is to engage the student in modern political topics, familiarize
themselves with political candidates, and see where their beliefs lie on the political spectrum.

Essential Strategy
In order to complete this assessment, researching topics, words, candidates, and organizations are
vidal. While researching, they will gain new insight into the topics, biases, and vocabulary associated
with modern political ideas. This will improve and introduce research skills.

For literacy, while researching and engaging with new political terms and vocabulary, new words and
ideas will be introduced to help improve political literacy.

Instructional Methods
For this lesson, basic reading and comprehension is all that is needed. If a student needs assistance
with reading, the teacher or an assistant will help with the student. Beyond research, the class will be
brought together to engage and explain all material read and answered on the assessment.

Technology Incorporation
Technology is vital to completing this assessment. The assessment is on the internet, and part of the
lesson is to learn how to research unknown material on the internet.

Supporting Student Learning


Knowing how our government works, and engaging with current political ideas and questions, is
important to being a citizen in our society. This assessment is meant to help that, and allow students
to learn about and see where their beliefs lie.

Assessment
This assessment will teach students how to research online, engage with political `topics, and see
where their political opinions lie. The result of this is to create more educated citizens, while also
teaching students how to research topics on the internet.
