CHAPTER 1
Introduction
This chapter aims to discuss how the system will help the business owner of the
Tapsilogan Store to have fast, efficient and secure process of services they provide for

the customers. This chapter also presents what is the project for, the problem the
researcher’s want to solve, advantages and disadvantages of the current situation,
significance of the study, objectives of the project and scope and limitation of the
project.
Purpose of the Project
This project is dedicated to tapsilogan stores for easy management of the whole
business and the like. It is for the tapsiloganowners who are having a hard time in
managing and computing bills of the customers.
As we observed today the Tapsilogan Store here in our localities don’t have a
good system for them to manage their business store. Aside from not having a system
they also don’t have a fast and convenient way for queuing their customers. The
manual process of computing the menu prices are also present here.So we come up
with the idea of lessening the time consuming and ordering of the customer.
In this system the researcher will use java programming using Netbeans and for
the database is Xampp. First the admin will add account for the cashier, and thenthe
cashier can already login in the system. Cashier will be the one who control the
customer’s order and give the bill for the purchased meal. Cashier is also responsible for
the receipt of the customers. As for the admin, s/he is responsible for monitoring and
maintaining the system.
As a business owner, you can rely on traditional hand counting method or
manual process. You can choose a traditional cash register, which keep track of the
money your business has taken each day. Each approach has its advantage and
disadvantages like the product selection, the managers can run reports that show not
only how many of each item was sold, but which item were the most popular. This can
reduce the amount of work and expense associated with the running business, which
can in turn boost profits. A point of sale typically requires an on-going maintenance fee
to cover updates and changes to the system. And also if the software is not kept up to
date, or if it is updated incorrectly, security breaches can occur.
Significance of the Project
The implementation of the system will eventually bring beneficiaries to the realization
that signifies advancement in the service process. This will benefit the following:

Business Owners. This will be beneficial for the business owners because they
will use this in promoting their menus in an easy way.
Buyers/Clients.This will be beneficial for the buyers because they can buy
menus and pay the purchase items without hassle.
Cashier.This will be beneficial for the cashier because they can easily calculate
all the order that the buyer purchase.
Objectives of the Project
The general objective of this project is to develop a Tapsilogan Management System
with POS.
 Aims to create a Point of Sale system which provides easy access of tapsilog
menus for fast food customer.
 To minimize the time consuming by the cashier when computing the customer’s
expenses.
 To manage the large number of customer at the same time.
 To give a good quality service to the customer.
 To maintain the positive relationship with the customer.
 To give an efficient way of ordering.
Scope and Limitations of the Project
The system will provide a simple yet very helpful Tapsilogan Store System which can
truly arise their business confidence. The system commits an easy navigation through
reachingthe customer’s comfortability while ordering menus. Adding new features like
customer’s discount and manageable menu prices can be a very helpful stuff for the
cashier attendant. Every order will be recorded to the database, if there is some of
miscalculation has found they can check the record in the database.

Iterative Model
The development of Tapsilogan Store System used Iterative Model to ensure the
success of the project. Iterative model has four phases: Requirements, Design,
Implementation and Test and Review phase. The development began by specifying and
implementing just part of the software, which can be reviewed in order to identify
further requirements. This process was then repeated, producing a new version of the
software for each cycle of the model. Its iterative software development model is
incremental build model where the product was designed, implemented and tested
incrementally until the product was finished. The following is a figure for the iterative

The overall flow of the Iterative Model is as follows:

Requirements Phase: In this phase, the system and user requirements was
gathered and analysed. The researchers distinguished, documented, and defined the

problem being encountered by the client which is the basis of why there is a need to
study Tapsilogan Store System to assess the specific problem.
Design Phase: This phase consisted of creating prototype that presented the
graphical user interface to be able to determine what works and does not work to the
user. This may be a new design, or an extension of an earlier design. This was about
experimentation and repetitions, determining the best designs, instructions and other
ideas before committing to full development.
Implementation and Test Phase: In this phase the system was coded,
integrated and tested. System design needs to be implemented to make it workable
system. Several tests by the administrator and the registration of the respondents is
done and tested to ensure that they meet the expected output.
Review Phase: In this phase the functionality of the system was evaluated, the
current requirements were reviewed and changes in addition to requirements proposed
were applied. This was done to eliminate the errors during its working time and to tune
the system to any variations in its working environments. Hence the system had
undergone several evaluations from the target respondents. It is necessary to make
revisions when needed for the success of the system.

SOFTWARE SPECIFICATION
The Tapsilogan Store System with POS was design to be user- friendly, easy to use and
easy to understand. It uses Windows environment for the user to easy manipulate the
system’s feature and function. The system has higher efficiency and was simplified for a
convenient utilization.
Java Netbeans.Java netbeans provides an integrated environment of tools and
server infrastructure that simplifies the entire application development process. Deliver
business results using productive, predictable, customizable process and increase
transparency and traceability throughout the lifecycle with detail analytics.
MySqlXampp. Is a unified visual tool for database architects, developer, and
SQL development and comprehensive tool for server configuration, user administration,
back up and much more. It include data modeller need for creating ER models, forward
and reverse engineering and also deliver key feature for performing difficult change
management and documentation task that normally requires much time and effort.
Xampp provides support for creating and manipulating database in MySql.

HARDWARE SPECIFICATION
Hardware. Should be at least a Generic Motherboard, Intel Core or higher
processor, at least 2GB RAM to have high speed processing, 500GB and higher hard
disk drive for convenient storage space for data; Generic monitor, mouse, keyboard and
Automatic Voltage Regular(AVR).
Software.Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System is recommended.

PROGRAM FUNTIONALITY
The proposed Tapsilogan Store System with POS has the following significant features:
 The system can generate Sales Report and customers order.
 The system can add, delete, update and edit the information of the user or
cashier.
 The system is secured with the password to ensure the security and integrity of
the data.
 The system can manage the details of the menu and the discount features.
 The system provides easy to use, graphical interfaces to minimize operating
time.
