ABSTRACT

DAVID CHRIS NOEL NABABAN (120304037) Undergraduate Thesis “The Role of

Agricultural Extension Worker in the Development of Paddy’s Farmer Organizations in
Desa Payalombang, Serdang Bedagai Districts.)” (Preceptor I by Dr. Ir. Rahmanta
Ginting, M.Si as the Head of Supervising Commission ; Preceptor II by Ir. Sinar Indra
Kusuma, M.Si as the member of Supervising Commission.) This experiment is done in 2017.
This experiment is aimed to : (1) Understand the role of the Agricultural Extension Worker in
the development of Paddy’s Farmer Organizations on the research area concerned; (2) Discover
the obstacles faced by the Extension Worker in the Development of Paddy’s Farmer
Organization on the research area concerned; and (3) Find out the methods of overcoming the
obstacles faced by the Extension Worker in the development of Paddy’s Farmer Organization
on the research area concerned.`The determination of the research area was done purposively.
The type of data used are primary data by direct interview with the farmers and secondary data
of agency and institution related. The experiment found that : (1) The role of the Agricultural
Extension Worker is classified poor ; (2) 4 (Four) obstacles faced by th Extension Worker in
the Development of Paddy’s Farmer Organization are ; Technical Problems, Economical
Problems, Infrastructure Issue, and Social Issue; (3) The methods of overcoming the problems
faced by the Agricultural Extension worker are : Identify potiential work, adequate the
convenience of farming, the family of farming profile analysis, intensify the knowledge,
attitude, and skills, develop self-help and innate energy, visit the Farmer Organization regularly
and sustainably, RDKK forming ( The Definitive Plan and Organization’s needs)
