Hook:
Use artwork by Romare Bearden to See, Think, Wonder.
Have students discuss different pieces in groups.
Come back together to compare and contrast. Talk about the art
elements that can be compared and contrasted.

b: Instructional Steps:
1. Do Imagine Learning compare and contrast lesson. Discuss language and the elements used to compare and contrast.
Record the story elements from both stories (The Boy Who Cried Wolf/The Wolf Who Cried Boy) and use them to com-
pare and contrast.
2. Read Stone Soup by Jon J. Muth (Asian version). Record the story elements.
3. Read Stone Soup by Ann McGovern (European version). Record the story elements.

4. In groups, use venn diagrams to compare and contrast the 2 versions of Stone Soup.

5. As a class decide on the major common similarities between the 2 stories.

6. Each pair of students will choose one similarity that they wish to overlap in their artwork. As a class, use The Boy Who
Cried Wolf/The Wolf who cried Boy to show how to overlap the elements.

7. Use the overlapping technique to compare and contrast with a partner.

8. Partners will orally present their artwork.
