    THUNDER BAY - The NSWPB/LEPC, in partnership with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and local business owner Uli Walther, are excited to host an upcoming series of engagement sessions. International Lessons in Developing a Highly-Skilled Workforce are a series of discussions that will be taking place from March 7th - 9th, 2018 in Thunder Bay, and will focus on the potential for adopting new strategies and best practices that have been successfully implemented in other jurisdictions. For over 100 years, the dual-system apprenticeship model that has been implemented in Germany has proven to be a successful approach to reduce skills shortages in the workforce. This system splits education between the workplace and the classroom, with a high degree of involvement from employers. We have invited our German Vocational and Educational Experts to lend their expertise and further the dialogue surrounding integrated learning.

    INTERNATIONAL LESSONS

    in Developing a Highly-Skilled Workforce


    For over 100 years, the dual-system apprenticeship model that has been
    implemented in Germany has proven to be a successful approach to
    reduce skills shortages in the workforce. This system splits education LUNCHEON & OPEN FORUM
    between the workplace and the classroom, with a high degree of Thursday March 8, 2018
    involvement from employers. In order to facilitate and explore how this 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
    system can be adapted to Ontario’s current model, we have invited our Victoria Inn, Thunder Bay ON
    German apprenticeship connections to lend their expertise and further
    the dialogue surrounding integrated learning.

    GUEST SPEAKERS
    LOTHAR SPRENZEL
    Having begun his career in the German German Association of Technical Teaching
    apprenticeship system to become or Asociación Hispano-Alemana de
