Maximum possible concentration of a substance dissolved in water.

Water soluble
substances easily rinse off with water and disperse readily through the environment on
release.

1. The quality or condition of being soluble.

2. The amount of a substance that can be dissolved in a given amount of solvent.

1. (Chemistry) the ability of a substance to dissolve; quality of being soluble

2. (Chemistry) a measure of this ability for a particular substance in a particular solvent,

equal to the quantity of substance dissolving in a fixed quantity of solvent to form a
saturated solution under specified temperature and pressure. It is expressed in grams
per cubic decametre, grams per hundred grams of solvent, moles per mole, etc

The maximum concentration of a chemical that will dissolve in pure water at a reference
temperature.

Why is solubility important?

Well the answer is in your question. Water is definitely one of the keys to life. Without it,
nothing would really exist, including us. Now on a scientific level, water solubility goes
down to the cell, in which the membrane needs water to pass through it's channels, but
only when needed. If water was insoluble, we would not be able to drink it because we
probably wouldn't be able to digest it and then what would it make of our bodies. Also,
certain things react with water in our bodies. For instance, when water reacts with
stomach acid in our bodies, it dilutes it and we don't feel the reflux anymore. If water
was insoluble, meaning water couldn't react with that acid, then would be no way to cure
simple refluxes as such. Without thinking water is used for the most basic things such
as constipation. It helps to clean out our colon. Can you imagine if everyone had to go
to the doctor for every constipation problem they had?

We are made up of water- water helps with digestion, with cell elasticity, with dilution of
stomach acid and other problems that may occur. Thus, water being soluble is a given
and definitely needed for our survival as well as living creatures.
