Does Continuing Education Effect Longevity

2) I have choosen the data of Hours per week worked? which campare the years worked in a
company with the number of hours per week worked.

4) We will choose as x variable (Years worked for your company) and for the y the variable
(Hours per week worked)

5) the result that I obtained is for the results of the linear regression on 2 pages :
The first one shows the analysis Table:
And the second one shows Scatter and Regression plot chart:

7) We obtained a an equation of the forme :

𝑦̂ = 0.0492𝑥 + 38.7800
for example, for 10 years worked on a company we will have:
𝑦̂ = 0.0492 × (10) + 38.7800 = 39.27
hours per week worked or in our data we have 4 times 10 years has figured and has given the
following hours of work:
45 – 40 – 50 – 40
this is explained because the equation that we have is an approximation of all the data that we
have on the file so we will have the differences also we had 40 that is repeted 2 times and our
value is 39.3 so we are near from the exact value.

_ Interpretation of the Slope:

The slope shows how much will change the hours of work per week for each year of worked
for the company.
our slope is positive which means that more we have years of work in a company more the
hours of work per week are growing.
in our case for every year worked on the company we will add 0.0492 hour of work per week.

_ Interpretation of the Y- intercept.

the interpretation is justified because we have the range of data that we work on include the
value of x=0 .
this variable is equal to 38.780 hours worked per week. and represent the amount of hours
worked corresponding to 0 years worked on the company (0 years is not real because we
cannot work 0 years on a company and the we have a hours worked per week but it can
represent mounts which are not more than 12).

8) the coefficient of correlation is r = 0.037153502 The coefficient of determination is the

r-sq = 0.0013803827.
because we had the correlation coefficient r = 0.037153502 near to 0 we cannot use this
approximation to work because the correlation coefficient must be near to 1 for a good
approximation.
as you can see on the residual plot graph :
9) the interpretation of the mean (y-bar):
our r value is less than 0.6 so we should use the y-bar
The result of the operation is:

the mean is 39.203252

so, the predicted hours of work weekly is 39.2 hours.

10) Interpretation of the coefficient of determination R2, measures the proportion of total
variation in the response variable that is explained by the least-square regression line.
in our case we have R2 = 0.0013803827
the proportion of variability of hours worked per week explained by the relation between the
number of years worked for the company and the hours worked is 0.1%.
