ABOUT YOUR ROLE:


The R&D Program Manager role is central to achieving a lower total cost for products via material and process re-engineering. The
role scope is SAPSSA, with a key responsibility being the related project pipelines and portfolios. To be successful, the R&D Program
Manager must play a leadership role in driving continuous improvement in MDI/MWIs, cost/benefit tracking methods, resource and
project prioritization processes, ideation, and AOP.

The role interfaces with Manufacturing, R&D, Purchasing, Marketing/PLTs, suppliers and external partners across all regions and all
MG businesses. The role is also a key resource for the R&D Director, SAPSSA and will assist in driving the global R&D agenda forward.
Results are delivered by having a broad base of technical product and process development experiences; Lean principle and problem
solving skills; creativity; and the ability to collaborate and influence.

Key learning in role includes a deeper understanding of customer requirements, market trends and the competitive landscape, PLT
and R&D roadmaps as well as finance and procurement. The R&D Program Manager will learn to see the linkages between functions
and understand the impact of R&D decisions downstream, making this role ideal for those candidates looking to grow their career in
R&D, Operations or Marketing. In addition to the high-level R&D metrics related to improving the top and bottom line and
supporting the OGSM, performance measures include pipeline and project portfolio metrics, adoption and execution of material re-
engineering strategies and tactics, solid analysis of current state and implementation of effective tactics related to A3 ownership,
and cooperation across boundaries.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

 Own the ideation process for re-engineering; develop and implement new ideation methods to identify opportunities
 Lead and work with cross functional teams to complete complex feasibility analysis including financial, technical and
commercial views
 Create and implement a cost/benefit tracking method for each project throughout its lifecycle
 Develop and implement the 2017+ strategy to maximize our results
 Prepare and manage AOP budgets; prepare and maintain actual and forecasted data
 Communicate financial results and re-engineering status to the SAPSSA leadership team and others
 Participate in select project review meetings and help the teams deliver results efficiently and effectively

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:


 Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field
 7-13 years technical and lean manufacturing experience with a proven track record leading with ELS and Six Sigma
 Exposure to multiple functions in previous roles preferred; ability to build credibility and trust at all levels and with all
functions and lead in a positive and collaborative manner; ability to influence the opinions and decisions of key
stakeholders
 Prior experience developing new products using stage gating, including running experimental trials, preferred
 Understanding of material cost structures with the ability to interpret and build product costs, analyze trends, and
complete project valuations
 Strategic thinker with solid financial acumen to drive prioritization decisions using ROI, GP and EVA analysis
 Passionate and driven for results with strong attention to detail
 Adaptable and flexible to changes in business needs and information
 Willing to travel up to 20% per year (SAPSSA operations sites and some international travel)
