Failure Effects/Indications
FLIGHT DECK EFFECTS:
-------------------

- "ENG VALVE CLOSED" lt (P5) illuminates bright if commanded position and actual
valve position disagree

When Fuel Lever is moved to cutoff:

- Engine shuts down after a 20-25s delay (this delay is needed to burn fuel contained in
fuel lines between closed spar valve and engine)
- EEC reset causes fuel flow to oscillate for a few seconds if A/C is on ground (in air
status is assumed during EEC reset)

Failure Effects/Indications
FLIGHT DECK EFFECTS:
-------------------

- Ingestion noise is heard

- Engine parameters vary suddenly when the bird hits the engine
- Fan blade(s) have FOD damage causing engine stall
- Engine vibrations are higher than normal

Failure Effects/Indications
FLIGHT DECK EFFECTS:
-------------------

- Upon malfunction insertion in cruise configuration (above 19,000 feet), the A/C enters a
continuous volcanic ash cloud

Upon entering dust cloud:

- Loss of visibility through windows (dependent on device specifications)

Approximately 1 or 2 min after entering the cloud:

- Both engines efficiency will decrease

The following effects will occur within approximately 2 mins:

- Engine 1 will begin to roll back towards idle, with EGT increasing, no throttle control and
will then flame out after EGT has peaked above the red limit

- Engine 2 will begin to roll back towards idle, with EGT increasing, no throttle control and
will eventually hang-up below idle

NOTES:
- At any time, shutting down engines, results in a slow EGT decay towards ambient
- Engine 1 relight attempts above FL190 are unsuccessful
- Engine 2 relight attempts result in engine hanging-up at or below idle, EGT higher than
normal and no throttle control
