PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy is a health care proffesion dedicated to working with people to identify and
maximize their ability to move and function throught their lifespan.

Specifically, physiotherapy improve clients quality of life by :

 Promoting optimal mobility physical activity and overall health and wellness.
 Preventing disease, injury, and disability.
 Managing acute and chronic conditions, activity limitations, and participation
restrictions.
 Improving and maintaining optimal functional independence and physical
performance.
 Rehabilitating injury and the effects of disease or disability with therapeutic
exercise programs and other interventions
 Educating and planning maintence and support programs to prevent re-occurrence,
re-injury or functional decline.

Phisiotherapy is anchored in movement sciences and aims to enhance or restore function


of multiple body systems. The profession is commited to health, lifestyle and quality of life. This
holistic approach incorporates a broad range of physical and physiological therapeutic
interventions and aids. Physiotherapy service are those that are performed by physiotherapy or any
other trained individuals working under a phisiotherapys direction and supervision.

Case :

Mrs Susan 35 years with a medical diagnosis of having a stroke. Patients experience weakness and
joint stiffness. Interventions thet have been given are done ROM. Doctors refer patients to get
treatment from a therapist.

In Doctor room,

Nurse 1 : Morning doctor.

Doctor : Morning nurse, please take a nice seat.

Nurse 1 : Thank you doctor.

Doctor : How’s our patient, Mrs.Susan?

How about her nutrition?

Nurse 1 : Her nutrition is better, her vital sign is better too. Patinet has started to eat

Doctor : That’s good. Is there another problem?

Nurse 1 : The patient was still difficult to move

Doctor : Please give me the patients medical record.


Nurse 1 : This is the patients medical record.

Doctor : Patient was diagnosted stroke. Her left leg and left hand is fatique. I will

Refer this patient to physiotherapy for the appropriate intervention.

Nurse 1 : Ok doctor.

Doctor : The pupose of this physiotherapy is to increase range of motion, strength,

control, flexibility, and muscle strength.

Nurse 1 : Ok, I understand doctor. We will do collaboration with physiotherapy to

help this patient.

Doctor : ok nurse, please do your best and bring this referral letter.

Nurse 1 : Ok doctor, thank you.

Doctor : Your welcome.

Nurse 1 meets nurse2, nurse 3,and nurse 4 to tell the result of his discussion with doctor.

Nurse 1 : I have met doctor to discuss about our patient, Mrs.Susan. Doctor suggest

us to collaboration with physiotherapist.

Nurse 2 : I think so, Mrs.Susan must get physiotherapy for recovery.

Nurse 3 : From my observation, the patient still had difficultly moving her leg and

Arm.

Nurse 4 : Right, we have done the room but the result have not been up. Physiotherapy
already doing the right choice.

Nurse 1 : Ok. The referral letter from a doctor. I am accountable to the nurse 2. 3, and

4 responsibility to collaborate with physiotherapist related therapies to be

Nurse 2 : Ok nurse 1, thank you.

In the Physiotherapist room.

Nurse 2 : Assalamualaikum.

Physiotherapist: Walaikumussalam, come in.

Nurse 3 : Thanks mom.

Physiotherapist: Please take a nice seat. What can I do for you?

Nurse 4 : Actually we come here to do collaboration with physiotherapist related to

our patient, Mrs. Susan.

Physiotherapist: what is the medical diagnose of this patient?

Nurse 2 : Patient was diagnosed stroke by doctor.

Nurse 3 : We have done the intervention to prevent joint stiffness with ROM, but

patient still difficult to move heer leg ang arm.

Physiotherapist: Ok, can I see the referral letter

Based on this letter, we will collaboration to do physiotherapy for patient.

Nurse2, 3, 4 : all right mom.

Physiotherapist: based on patient condition, we will do physical therapy to increase range of

motion, strength, control, flexibility, and muscle strength.

Nurse 3 : How this therapy method mom?

Physiotherapist: The exercise is done so that, the patient can actively control their own

movement without the help of others. Or passive movement is done with

help of a therapist.

Nurse 4 : Than, what can we do?


Physiotherapist: We have to measure the strength, flexibility. Joint motion capacity, physical

endurance posture

Nurse 2 : Ok mom.

Physiotherapist: Let us just end this discussion. We are going directly to the patient to

perform physical exercise therapy in patients with Susan.
