§112.15. Science, Grade 4, Beginning with School Year 2010-2011.
(b) Knowledge and skills.
(9) Organisms and environments. The student knows and understands that living organisms
within an ecosystem interact with one another and with their environment. The student is
expected to:
(A) investigate that most producers need sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make their own
food, while consumers are dependent on other organisms for food; and

(b) Knowledge and skills.
(9) Organisms and environments. The student knows that organisms have characteristics that
help them survive and can describe patterns, cycles, systems, and relationships within the
environments. The student is expected to:
(A) observe and describe the physical characteristics of environments and how they support
populations and communities within an ecosystem;

Instructions/Instrucciones: Picture for each!
1. Cut off the top of the bottle on the dotted line (do not throw any pieces away!)

2. Place the soil in the bottom of the bottle. Lightly tap the bottom of the bottle so the soil
settles (do not pack it in!)
3. Plant 5 bean seeds 1 inch deep in soil close to the sides of the bottle.

4. Cover seeds up with the soil.

4. Cubra las semillas con el suelo.
5. Water soil until damp all the way to the bottom but not soaking wet.

6. Screw the cap onto the cut-off top of the bottle.

7. Place it upside down into the opening and seal the edges with clear tape.

8. Place in a warm, sunny spot (the ecosystem will not require watering again).
9. Write down what is happening to your ecosystem in your science notebook.

Items to return to the class: tape and scissors/Artículos para regresar a la clase: cinta y tijeras.
You may keep your bottle ecosystem!/¡Puede mantener el ecosistema de su botella!

When writing down what is happening in your ecosystem, you can use these/ Al anotar lo que
