Radio Analysis: Radio 2

The voice-
00:00-00:04- The man who is speaking just before the news has a less formal tone to his voice
and is much more relaxed than the typical news presenter.
00:08-The is voice one which is the male presenter he speaks in RP English and is very clearly
pronounced. This helps for the audience to understand him and also is the stereotypical british
accent so is very recognisable that it is the bbc. It also sets a serious tone to the overall theme
of the news.
2:38-2:30-The secondary presenters voice also follows the pattern of the voice being serious
and in the RP English.

Textures combined (rhythm, volume, pitch)-

The man who speaks from 0:00-00:04 has a fast rhythm as he is trying to get out the
information before the news speakers present. Also the volume is loud but much more lighter
than the male news presenter which shows that they are less serious and has been a relaxing
show on before. The pitch is also higher than normal as you can tell he has raised his pitch,
probably to sound more fun and friendly to the audience. The rhythm of the male presenter is at
a quick rhythm so more information can be passed through in a shorter amount of time , it also
shows how formal and serious he is about the new. The volume in which he presents in is quite
loud and and a powerful voice which is good to show that the news is important news and
needs to be listened to.He has a low pitch which shows that he is serious like the rhythm a the
lower the pitch the more serious the speech is.
Similar traits are also found in the woman's voice with her voice having a lower pitch than usual
and the volume being being loud. however her rhythm was much slower than the male
presenter and had a calmer vibe to it then the male presenter.

Presenter’s style: The first present and second presenter has an indirect address which means
they are not talking to anyone directly they are just speaking the news. All the language they
uses is also very formal and none to hardly any of informal language is used.

Language register: The language register of the news presenters are both formal and they do
not use colloquial language .

Dialect and accent: All accents used in this news broadcast are RP british or the BBC english
which means there accent will be very understandable since the pronunciation will be promente.

New: the news given keeps the listeners informed about what is going on in that moment in
time. Also it can be used as a break between shows when they are presenting the news so they
can get set up for the next show.

Pre recorded interview /studio live: from 01:50-02:10 the man's voice record gives evidence to
the situation and helps the news reported to fill in silence space which prevents awkwardness
Headline: The first story gives a short summary which grabs the audience's attention on the new
stories which helps them to keep interested in the following stories.

Bulletin -00:42-01:06 there is a correspondent in the field which knows about the subject and
can engage the audience since he knows what to talk about and gives the correct information
for the audience. It also can change the atmosphere with the voice.

Ident: 00:01-01:11 the music s played which is the familiar tune of radio 2 and then the radio
presenter introduce himself to the audiences with the time and the radio channel .
Jingles: 3:12-3:30. The jingle has the vocals and theme tune that is familiar and catchy to the
audience it is also light and joyful after serious news has been presented to the listener.

Secondary presenter:02:38- 03:05 the secondary present can give a change in tone which
reflects if the news is positive or negative news and also keeps listeners interested as the voice
has been changed. The first presenter introduced the secondary presenter and says when she
stops speaking.

Tease: before going off he says ‘ and next at 3..’ which a way to intrigue listeners without
misleading the listeners.
