Introduction

Muscat Electrical Company is a global electrical enterprise that operates within and

without the Oman territorials. It is based on the grounds of Muscat, Oman. The company operate

for both international and domestic scheduled markets. It also provides other passenger services

like regional support service. The main base of the Muscat Electrical Company is in the Oman

territory. It is a member of the Arab Electrical companies established in 20th century. The

company emerged as one of the electrical supplier and ground handling provider at Beit Al Falaj

appliances. By 1972, the company was able to develop new market channels out of Oman and

the Gulf region by promoting its competitive advantage. In 1977, Muscat Electrical Company

was able to take over the Gulf Electrical market.

The company was seen to expand rapidly and it recorded the highest growth among the

electrical distributor and appliances provision in the region. The company led electrical service

providers in providing new equipment, appliances, and tools to cater for the increasing demand.

The company has also partnered with companies that provide complimentary products. The

partnership has allowed provision of equipment in the expanding market. In the year 1981,

Oman’s company authority facilitated creation of a universal lead that would promote

competition and partnership. Companies like Muscat Electrical benefited from this move and

engaged in joint-stock company. Oman Electrical Services procured other subsidiary companies

to promote its outlets in the Gulf region. This move allowed the company to change its strategies

and distribution services. In the following year, Oman Electrical Services jointly commenced

provision of all-inclusive support services for its customers. From 1983 to 1993, the company

purchased new equipment and stores to facilitate market penetration further.

Nature of the Role within the Organization

During the process of registration with the human resource department, I submitted all

the recruitment requirements to the working forces and then I was contacted to go to the

recruitment office for the examination and then I successfully passed in the interview. After a

certain period of time I been sent to the production unit to start training. The training time took

nine months and after graduation I was employed as one of the Oman’s electrical support service

provider. I started working in the Muscat Electrical Company immediately. Then, I learned how

to work in all aspects, both administrative work and field work. In terms of field work. I learned

many things that increased my experience where I learned how to deal with a lot of personalities

such as VIPs, Highnesses, managers and other personalities and also learned how to deal with

the computer in the extraction of data and storage of production services as well as writing tables

and statistics. As for the field, I learned how to deal with the league and how to operate the

necessary controls and communication devices.

After successful assignments and production for considerable period with Muscat

Electrical Company, I was able to handle most of the field and administrative duties. I was then

transferred in the office to handle more administrative duties. Here, I learned how to work in all

aspects, both administrative work and field work. I was exposed to different work dimensions as

well as dealing with people of different personalities. For instance, Muscat Electrical Company

provides special treatment to important customers, loyal buyers, and the managers among other

personalities.

Importantly, I was exposed to the means of using computers in conducting administrative

duties. Since Muscat Electrical Company worked hand in hand with other most companies

providing complementary services, there was a high need to develop a cohesive and continuity

within the production department. From the relations between the market authority and the and

the company, it was a good experience to know the means of communicating with different

levels of clients.

After this experience, I am able to handle several transactions at the same time or address

different cases consecutively and ensure their completion successfully. During my daily practice

I can complete a large number of administrative assignments within a short time by extracting

the data, I was able to identify different needs of groups of people and address their concerns.

Moreover, through fieldwork I was able to detect a group of people with customized needs and

addressed their concerns. These outstanding works have contributed to the upgrading of work in

traffic management and have satisfied me and gain a good performance in my career.

This company offered a good learning environment as an individual is exposed to

different work environments and tasks. The organization works with a central organization that

links different service providers within the electrical market. For instance, in the support

services, Muscat Electrical Company must work within the norms of the society. The society

always possess higher respect and confidence towards some occupations. Such higher needs

require one to portray oneself in an extemporary manner to deliver high performance as

expected. Such scenarios will always create threats to the agency.

However, the current formulation and development witnessed in the fast changing world

is creating a cohesive environment where the negative perception from the society members is

declining. Currently, the community is able to interact productively with the electrical

distributors. Therefore, the measures developed by the management are easily implemented. The

market personnel work hand in hand with the administrators to ensure that the services proved

are admirable. Further, workers are critical in this endeavor. They are considered as the

production managers and provide directives upon request. It is the sole role of the Muscat

Electrical Company to ensure that clients receive good and quality services that translate to the

cost they pay. The company has a feedback platform where the clients can give response over the

service provided on board and within the aviation area. As such, the workers need to provide a

continuity of the service provided from the reception, checkpoints, to the market services. When

the Muscat Electrical Company cannot establish or present better services, the other competitor

would enjoy the incompetence and provide the clients with better services. Therefore, the Muscat

Electrical Company must work well with the other complementary service agencies to provide

the needed service to clients and maintain the reputation of the company and other joinery

corporates.

During the performance, the agency experienced difficulties and threatening situations.

For instance, when working at the borders and ports, smugglers and drug dealers with links from

highnesses pose a dangerous scenario for a Muscat Electrical Company officer on duty. For

instance, it becomes difficult to handle a member of the royal families identified with

misconducts. Further, people perceived superior in the society are not easy to deal with

especially when there is a need to provide them with direct services. The company does not

provide effective support to the workers during production process. Therefore, exposure to these

cases were some of the skills that one could not experience anywhere else that being engaged

with the Muscat Electrical Company both in the field and administration area.

SWOT Analysis

One of the strengths that I have is the ability to endure and work more hours than

scheduled so that I may encounter different incidences beside completing a simple task and

going home. I also, have the ability to see track a service crew remotely and provide necessary

instructions. Despite that I did not have an opportunity to lead the entire lead team in the

production and marketing process, I have all that it takes to maintain a smooth running of a

company. Electricians always consider these scenes as the most challenging. As such, I have

paid special attention on these areas to ensure competence. Additionally, I can individually

complete a batch of field and administrative assignments.

One of major weakness that influenced me in this work was meeting with people with

diverse needs. Here, I was challenged to point of failure of executing the right duty because of

the break in communication. I do not have basic skills in communicating in many languages

other than English or Arabic. When I met people relying on gesture language, it became

impossible to extract the necessary information from them. Additionally, the Muscat Electrical

Company relies on people with in depth knowledge in Arabic. Therefore, whenever we

encountered people speaking in a different language, it became difficult for the Muscat Electrical

Company to deal with such issues. Most customers in the domestic market are able to understand

Arabic. However, there was a difficulty trend in few who could not understand basics of Arabic.

As such, it became necessary for the agency to recruit translators for effective communication.

Therefore, I understand the need to have an understanding in other languages especially when

one is working with an agency that require to deal with people from other areas. Otherwise, there

will be a break in communication network and performance as translators cannot be relied upon

to provide accurate and reliable direct meaning of original statement. Workers must rely on

accurate data and information for effectiveness. During my work experience, I encountered

people who were dumb and I could not solve their needs or extract necessary information. Other

times, I met people who cannot speak Arabic or English. As such, these challenges exposed

workers to dangers of discrimination.

One of the opportunities that can be gained is to participate in the courses in which the

worker participates and to benefit from them to gain experience and increase the skill. One donor

suggested to funded training to new women electricians on domestic market for the Muscat

Electrical Company and expressed the willingness and interest to support the workers in their

personal development.

In the future I plan to work as a senior manager and address the areas that I found

reasonable to change. I will be able to carry the skills I learnt from this experience to provide

better services. I will work for any company and bridge the existing gap between the clients and

the company. I will also create a good relation with foreign support services by providing a clear

self-description for safe use of their services for international customers.

Throughout the work, I encountered people or and officers from diverse origins, belief,

and experience. People always have different perception on others. Some supervisors had

negative attitudes towards my performance and did not believe in my capability. However, most

of the officers accorded the required support and shared their past encounters as well as their way

of addressing challenges. Most challenging part of interaction was dealing with workers with a

bad attitude towards my work. I did not find better terms to explain to them about capability.

Nevertheless, when assigned tasks, I ensured that it was done to completion and extemporarily.

This created confidence among them and they always assigned me different tasks. This

expounded my experience and exposure. Therefore, I did not regret encountering diverse

personnel in this company. They were the source of learning and experience.

Reflection on skills Development

Before I joined the agency, I had a negative attitude towards the organization and the

performance. Initially, I thought that the perceived poor performance of the aviation companies

was caused by the incompetence. However, as time passed I realized that Muscat Electrical

Company comprised of more competent personnel than as any other department. Further, I was

pleased by the level of worker performance and eliminated the previous perception. I noted that

the production service is field that needed a high level of care while dealing with different

customers. For instance, international market requires that the worker coordinate with different

services in the entire lead process as well as being in good terms with foreign services providers.

Unlike domestic market, the international field require producers to have good relation with

consumers and other producers to facilitate a fast and reliable support services. From Muscat, the

customer is engaged to different support centers and quality control units. Different countries

manage their market differently due to different administrative strategies employed. As such, the

worker has to be careful when sending different signals identifying the type of electrical

equipment and the need to use foreign support services. As such. it is necessary to portray high

level of intelligence during work.

Creating a conducive and peaceful working environment with the foreign countries is the

most important thing. When the neighboring countries have trust in our work, the assigned tasks

were easer as getting the necessary information was easy. The clients were willing to cooperate

with the company and provide meaningful information. Such information was then used to

ensure that quality services were provided.

From most of the incidence that I witnessed, I noted that company took considerable time

to respond the needs of the clients. According to me, this was one area that the company ought to

give me time to change and respond differently. I think that the clients deserve a fast response

and quality instant services. In the case of an occurrence like failed equipment and other serious

matters, it is the role of company to provide a fast response and ensure that there is minimum

effect. As such, there will be reduced complaints as well as raised trust from the customers.

Additionally, the clients will be willing notify the company immediately they have an anomaly

occurrence through the support services like the sales and marketing teams.

Throughout the entire working period, I have gained unique and diverse experiences

through my practice in the company’s administrative duties. I have learned how to deal with

different characters and gained experience in knowing the types market violations. Another

important skill I learnt was having an opportunity to experience in programmable equipment and

how to creation of issues with customers and on the other hand gained experience in how to

troubleshoot a failure. Through my practice of administrative work, I learned other experiences

such providing support service to the loyal customers from the base station. I am also able to

provide remote instructions and effectively communication with different support providers.

The organization and recommendations

The Muscat Electrical Company is an organization that provides services for domestic

and international electrical market. It also ensures that there are quality support services from the

Oman. For instance, it works hand in hand with the Malaysian electrical companies to prevent

development sub-standard products. The company is able to control a considerable electrical

market in Oman as well as in the international market.

The numerous issues that needs the attention of electricians are directed towards their

attentions. The workers are responsible for technical recommendation for the equipment. They

are also important during servicing since they provide recommendations for the best changes.

For instance, the programmable areas are well addressed through worker’s engagement.

Conclusion

The Muscat Electrical Company forms a very critical part of the Oman electrical market.

It makes it easier for the electrical market to provide extended services for the customers.

Working in this organization is an important experience that I gained. I have always wanted to

provide service for my country and this placement provided a good opportunity. I was able to

encounter different events that would have been impossible if I did not expose myself in this

company. The service provided by the Muscat Electrical Company are critical and the

performance is dependable. Therefore, the experience gained in this organization will be

applicable in my future endeavors.
