Ultimately, it was USFS president Jimmy Disbrow who made the final determination. He wrote to Jackson on May 27, ruling that Maurizi's claims were being dismissed "for a variety of reasons, both legal and equitable, pertaining principally to delay and limitation of actions.”

Re: Craig J, Maurizi
Grievance Statement Dated April 21, 1999 - Richard Callaghan
Dear Jon:
This is in response to your letter dated May 24, 1999 regarding Mr. Mauriai’s Grievance
We have now had the opportunity to review and consider the Grievance Statement and
supporting documentation which you provided in order to evaluate whether to refer the
matter to you for initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Callaghan in
accordance with Section 3 b)(i) of USFSA Bylaw Article XXVI In doing so, we have
also conferred with the other two USFSA Vice Presidents.
‘The Grievance Statement alleges conduct which Mr, Maurizi claims last occurred some
fourteen (14) years ago, including approximately four (4) years of conduct which he
acknowledges continued after he reached the age of majority. We believe that Mr.
Maurizi’s claims and request for action by the USFSA are untimely and barred for a
variety of reasons, both legal end equitable, pertaining principally to delay and limitation
of actions.
Therefore, after cerefil review and consideration of the allegations and information
contained in the Grievance Statement, we have decided that itis not appropriate to refer
this matter to the Chair of the Ethics Committee for the USFSA to initiate disciplinary
proceedings and we request that you so inform Mr, Maurizi,
Sincerely,
James w-Disbrow
President
