Safety Precautions

Thunderstorms
High temperature
Do not work with electrical current or work in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm.
If the ambient temperature reaches 55°C, the surface temperature of an RTN 320 may exceed 70°C.

Extreme weather conditions Therefore, wear protective gloves when handling the RTN 320. A high-temperature warning label ( ) is
attached to each RTN 320.
RTN 320 is usually installed outdoors. If weather conditions are extreme during an installation, personnel
should follow the related local guidelines and regulations to safeguard personal health and safety. Handling of RTN 320 or mounting kits

Elevated locations Wear clean gloves when handling the RTN 320 or mounting kits.

RTN 320 is usually installed in an elevated location, for example, on the rooftop of a building. For installation Lasers
in elevated locations, installation personnel must:
Do not look into an optical port without eye protection.
•Have the proper training and qualifications, and meet health requirements.
•Wear helmets, safety belts, and anti-slip footwear.
Corrosion
•Wear clothing and gloves appropriate to weather conditions.
•Work in teams of two or more. Anti-corrosion measures are required if an RTN 320 is installed in a location that is prone to corrosion. Contact
•Test hoisting tools before use. the local Huawei office for details. A location is prone to corrosion if it is:
•Avoid installation during extreme weather conditions, such as during thunderstorms, blizzards, or gales. •Within 3.7 km of an ocean or a salt water lake
In addition, all site visitors must wear helmets. • Within 3 km of a heavy pollution source, such as a smelting factory or coal mine
• Within 2 km of a medium pollution source, such as a chemical, rubber, or electroplating plant
Microwave • Within 1 km of a light pollution source, such as a food/leather processing plant or heating boiler

High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmission from the antennas of Local rules and regulations
microwave equipment that has the radiation warning symbol ( ). When you are installing or performing If local rules and regulations require that anti-corrosion measures must be taken for ground connections,
maintenance on an antenna located on a tower that has multiple antennas, avoid exposure to radiation comply with local rules and regulations.
from other antennas.

Unpacking
Moving and hoisting heavy objects
• After unpacking an RTN 320, power it on within 24 hours.
To move or hoist heavy objects, use appropriate equipment and adhere to the • Do not power off an RTN 320 for more than 24 hours during maintenance.
following guidelines:
• All personnel should wear helmets and protective clothes, gloves, and
shoes.
• Move heavy objects along a flat obstacle-free path.
• Do not lift heavy objects by hand. Use appropriate equipment instead.
• When items are hoisted, ensure that those standing nearby are safe from
falling objects.
• Use hoisting tools properly. Do not exceed load allowances to prevent
damage to pulleys or slings.

•Do not install or remove a live power cable. Any contact between the power cable core and a conductor can Do not leave any service cable unconnected (see the following figure).
generate electric arc or sparks, which may cause fire or eye injury. If a service port is not in use, remove the cable from it and plug it with a waterproof block.
•Connect the power cables correctly to the positive and negative terminals of the power supply device (see
circled No.1 in the figure below). To prevent damage to power cables or devices caused by short-circuits,
install a circuit breaker on the negative terminal of the power supply device (see circled No.2 in the figure
below). The recommended fuse capacity is 10 A to 16 A.
•Do not connect the RTN 320 to an AC power supply device. Otherwise, the RTN 320 may be damaged.
•Do not connect the RTN 320 to a DC power supply device providing power beyond the range of –38.4 V to –
57.6 V. Otherwise, the RTN 320 may be damaged.

Installation Precautions
Installation space requirements Installation position requirements

•Reserve at least 30 cm space on the side of the RTN 320 so that the maintenance compartment can be opened. •The RTN 320 can be installed on either side of a hybrid coupler or OMT. You can install the RTN 320 on the right or
left side based on installation space requirements.

Installation Precautions
How to handle the issue that the maintenance compartment cannot be opened due to the support bar
After installing the RTN 320, check whether the maintenance compartment can be opened. If it cannot 3. Adjust the installation angle of the support bar so that the maintenance compartment can be removed.
be opened due to the support bar, adjust the installation position or angle of the support bar. 4. Install a fixing bar for the support bar so that the angle of the support bar can be adjusted to the greatest extent.
The following adjustment methods are available: Then, the maintenance compartment can be opened, and the antenna's wind resistant capability is maximized.
1. Adjust the installation angle of the support bar to ensure that the
maintenance compartment can be opened.

•After installing cables, attach labels or tags to the two ends of each cable. Outdoor cable ties may be damaged due to installation and environmental factors. You are recommended to use feeder
3. Safety clamps in high-temperature and dry environments or in freezing cold environments.
•Lay out cables away from sharp objects or jagged walls, or protect cables using conduit.
•Lay out cables away from heat sources, or add heat-insulation materials between cables and heat sources.
•At turns or near equipment, allow sufficient slack in the cables and coil them (with a diameter of about 0.6 meters) for

•Seek help indoors when routing cables into equipment rooms.
