There are three core types of deception that I have
seen employed in Malifaux.

Know Your Opponent

It is not always possible to use the information 1. Lying
you know about your opponent against them.
I said it before and it bears repeating: DO NOT
Sometimes you may be facing someone from out

them understand every option in front of them.
The second style of deception which makes its way
into games is when you withhold information from
your opponent unless they ask for it. You never lie
or misrepresent what your models can do, but you
pattern almost like a computer. You do not offer
suggestions or opinion on any matter in the game
whether it could benefit or harm your opponent. If
you see your opponent is about to make a move that
they would likely not make if they had memorized
every rule on your models, you let them make the
move anyway and take advantage of the fact they
don’t know all the rules.

This is different from lying. It leaves a bad taste

The main room of the building was a squalid bar,

the crowd wore fur lined winter gear. She could see a

she stamped down on it hard. No time for that.

The small space seemed to be a leftover from the

For this article I set out to cover the Outcasts as a
whole and showcase the sheer variety of playstyles
and options available within the Faction. But I’ll admit
it would be a crime if I didn’t acknowledge all the
“other” models available to Outcast Masters. As it
turns out, most of the Outcast models have options
for supplementing their crews with a broad variety of
non-mercenary, out of Faction models. In fact of the
7 Masters, just two have no options for hiring non-
mercenaries outside of their Faction (Viktoria and
Von Schill). And even then they could theoretically
get access to any Hound models (currently Guild
Hounds and Canine Remains) if they’ve taken Nix
with his Hollow upgrade.

From Crooligans to Death Marshalls, Papa Loco

to Torakage, the sheer variety of options available
would be more than enough to at least double the
length of this article. But for your sake and mine I’ll
instead leave you with this:

“This is the temporary home of patient #1078,

Hall recognized the number; he had come

and drowning two of her neighbor’s children,
insisting that voices commanded her to do

constantly, begging the voices to go away.

Plast Craft Games has released several

scenery sets designed for Malifaux.
These elements are intended to make
a better gaming experience for players.
This is best achieved if the scenery on
the board is properly painted with a
color scheme that fits with the Malifaux
aesthetic. We have written this painting
guide to show how easy is working with
Plast Craft Games scenery to get good
results with basic painting skills.

The sample pictures included on each

product’s package are painted with an

an airbrush, we decided to explain
how to get similar results using regular

for hobbyists of all skill levels, so we
