Antminer Set-up Guide

© NinjaTech LLC 2014

Upon opening the package, you will find (1) Antminer S1 Dual-Blade Miner and (1) Power
Supply with power cord and jumper wire. You will need to supply your own Ethernet cable to
connect the Antminer to your home network and to hash for your specified pool.

1. Set up the Antminer and power supply on a flat surface.

2. Plug the (2) 6-pin PCI-e cables from the power supply into each of the two white PCI-e power
ports mounted on the top sides of the Antminer. You will know they are PCI-e connectors
because the connectors are labeled. Plug in your own Ethernet cable that connected to a router
or switch. Make sure you hear the clicking sound when you clip them in.

3. Check to make sure there is a small jumper wire inside the two pins of the 16-pin cable of the
PSU (two away from the right on the side with the clip) like this (it is what will power your miner
without a motherboard):
4. Connect the power cord from a power outlet into the power supply.
5. Press the switch on the PSU to power the Antminer.
6. On a computer, check your IP address to find out which subnet your home network is on. On
a Windows computer, type “cmd” into the start menu search tool and then type “ipconfig” into
the command line. On a Mac or Linux computer, type “terminal” into the application search
menu, then type “ifconfig”.
If you are using wireless, you will see your IP address under Wireless Adapter and if you are
connected to Ethernet you will see your IP address under Ethernet adapter. It should look
something like this:

If your IP address is anything in the range of 192.168.1.x such as shown in the graphic, then
you will not need to mess around with network settings and can simply type the IP address of
the label on the Antminer such as the one shown below into a web browser to access your
Antminer configuration.
If your IP address is not in the range 192.168.1.x (for example 192.168.2.x or 10.x.x.x), then you
will need to connect the Antminer directly to a personal computer with an Ethernet cable and
change your IP address settings temporarily until you can connect to the miner and change the
miner’s IP address to connect to your home network. Before you go any further, write down the
IP address, subnet mask and default gateway of your computer.

To change IP address settings on a Windows computer, you can follow along here. If you are
using Mac or Linux, you can search online to find information on changing Ethernet IP settings
through the Network Managers. I have omitted it from this edition because of time.
Go to Control Panel->Network and Internet->Network and Sharing Center. Then, click on
“change adapter settings”. Disable your wireless adapter by right-clicking the wireless adapter
icon and clicking Disable. Then, right click on the Ethernet adapter icon and select Properties. In
the Ethernet adapter Properties menu, scroll down and select “Internet Protocol TCP/IPv4”.
Then click the properties button in that window.

Select “Use the following IP address” and enter these values for the fields like above. We are
changing the IP settings temporarily to be on the 192.168.1.x network to be able to connect to
the miner through the web interface. Press OK.
7. Now, type the IP address written on the label of the Antminer into a web browser. You will
see a prompt asking for authentication. Username and password are both “root”.
8. On the home screen, you will see this:

9. If you would like to change the miner IP address to match your home network settings (if your
subnet is different from 192.168.1.x), select the Network Tab at the top of the screen and click
the Edit button on the WAN settings. You can select a static IP address using the values that
you wrote down when you first checked the IP address of your personal home computer.
10. After confirming your miner network settings, go back to the status tab and select Miner
Configuration. Type in your pool server and type in a worker name into the fields, password
optional.

11. Click Save and Apply. After a minute or two, you should be able to see your miner hashing
for your pool when clicking on the Miner Status tab.

Congratulations! You are all set up!
