Today's lesson required students to answer a variety of questions to demonstrate their understanding of the
text. Naena demonstrated an understanding of learners' developmental levels and is familiar with each
student's IEP goals. She regularly initiates communication with her mentor teacher and other school
personnel to help support student progress.

Naena maintains a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment. She works to ensure students treat
each other with respect and interact in an appropriate and positive manner. During today's lesson, she
used a variety of classroom management strategies including verbal praise, eye contact, redirection,
precision commands, and brisk pacing. During guided practice, students were actively engaged and were
given an average of 4.2 opportunities to respond per minute with a verbal praise rate of 3.1 per minute.

Naena uses student data to evaluate progress and make instructional decisions. She also actively monitors
student learning throughout the lesson and responds to individual student needs as appropriate (e.g.,

During today's lesson, Naena made adjustments to her instruction based on student responses. She also
used differential reinforcement and precision commands to help keep one student on task. She engaged
students through asking multiple questions, providing high rates of opportunities to respond and
appropriate verbal praise. In addition, she uses a variety of effective technology and resources to support
learning including the classroom SmartBoard, computer, and educational software.

Naena has been very receptive to feedback from her mentor teacher and college supervisor. She has
worked hard to apply this feedback to her classroom instruction. This was evident during today's lesson by
the improvement she made related to increasing student opportunities to respond and verbal praise rates.
