City seeks lease

proposals for
Quechan Marina

The city of Blythe is
actively seeking propos-
als from private devel-
opers/operators for the
long-term operation and
development of Quechan
Park/Marina, located
near the intersection of
the Colorado River and
Interstate 10.
This request for the
leasing of the park came
about after several dis-
cussions at the city
council meetings where
former Councilman Os-
car Galvan, Mayor Dale
Reynolds and Vice Mayor
Eric Egan recommended
that staff look into offer-
ing developers a chance
to lease and revitalize the
summertime hotspot.
The property offers 34
acres of land, roadway,
boat ramp and access to
the Colorado River.

Crecelius shared with
the Times that the city
decided to open up this
opportunity because the
marina, “has a lot of po-
tential for development,
but the city is not in the
development business.
[Therefore,] the best way
to have something devel-
oped at Quechan Park is
allowing someone in that
industry, a chance to do
something there.”
According to the City
Clerk’s office, develop-
ment of the area will
hopefully attract people
off of the freeway and
into the marina and the
city.
“There could be some
revenues to the city from
the lessee, but the main
benefit would be [the] de-
velopment of the park/
marina for our residents
and visitors,” Crecelius
stated.
The city already has
a master plan for what
types of developments
they hope to see come
from this leasing agree-
ment. According to the
