PVHS basketball team falls in CIF playoffs

From the first jump
of the game to the last
second ticking on the
time clock, last Mon-
day night’s playoff
game at the Palo Verde
High School was a head
scratcher and nail biter
from start to finish.
With the Yellow Jack-
ets facing the San Ysidro
High School Cougars, all
the way from
San Diego,
the sting-
ing jack-
ets fought
their way
up the court
and back to stay in close
numbers with the tough
competitors.
Having players like
Andre Valdez and Julian
Hill carrying the team
with three point shots
after every major turn-
over, the team continued
to make great strides in
the game with players
Jeramy Ward and Manu-
el Arroyo assisting with
two pointers, rebounds
and tight picks.
Although the Yellow
Jackets loss the game,
ending the night 75-65,
Head Coach Gabriel Ca-
margo said he is very
proud of his team for
winning Desert League
with a 5-1 record and
walking away overall,
10-16.
He shared with the
Times, “Our playoff
game vs San Ysidro was
a tough fought game. We
played well, [but] we just
had too many turnovers
and missed free throws
down the stretch. [How-
ever] this is our 4th
league title in a row,
[and] by winning league,
we were able to have a
home playoff game.”
All the same, having
great leaders, who Ca-
margo said were very
