Transportation in a metro city is a major issue for the Government of Telangana, and Hyderabad is not an exception to this rule. Keeping this
in view, the Hyderabad Metro Rail is being developed as one of the largest modern transport systems in the world based upon the PPP KEY POINTS :

model.
The main idea behind the concept of Metro Rail is to make sure commuters reach on time to work and not delayed on account of lack of
rapid transport. Growing urbanisations has led to innumerable problems for commuters who are delayed on account of traffic jams. Metro
Rail will allow them to bypass these traffic congestion barriers.

That means the rest of the trips are made by personal vehicles leading to traffic
bottlenecks, high pollution levels and a steep increase in fuel consumption.
-A people-friendly city is that which provides a good quality of life. An efficient, safe,
reliable and comfortable public transportation system is one of the pre-requisites of good living.
-The increasing pressure of the burgeoning population is putting Hyderabad's Transportation
System under constant pressure. The need of the hour is a robust system that is dependable,
comfortable, affordable and sustainable.

The answer lies in Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS). Accordingly, the development of Metro Rail
HYDERABAD
was approved for 72 km., covering three high density traffic corridors of Hyderabad. The Project METRO
is being developed on DBFOT basis in PPP mode. STATION

Advantages of Metro Rail INTRODUCTION-

-The Metro Rail System has proven to be most efficient in terms of NEED FOR METRO

energy consumption, space occupancy and numbers transported.

SCALE :
-High-capacity carriers - very high volumes of peak hour peak direction
trips.
-Eco-friendly - causes no air pollution, much less sound pollution. REMARKS :

-Low energy consumption - 20% per passenger km in comparison to

road-based systems.

or 24 lanes of car traffic (either way).

Stations will be covered by an overlapping roofing

staircases & escalators designed based on
architectural elements and functional aspects.
Major facilities at depots are:
-Automatic train wash plant
predicted passenger flows, ROW availability and
electrical & mechanical requirements.
The station is divided into public & non-public
areas (areas where access is restricted).
Architectural planning, also indicates, State of art,
Railway engineering equipment's installations at
station concourse level for smooth Metro Rail
operations and Passenger Safety.
Station Manager is located at convenient place
with ease of access, if any passenger desire
instant helps.
Pedestrian facilities from the road to the concourse/car park and/or to the ticket KEY POINTS :
counters and back shall have been provided to enable unhindered smooth flow
of pedestrians using the Metro and making the commuting experience
comfortable.
Toilets are provided separate for male and female and for disabled and normal
passengers.
Facilities for disabled are provided at all stations for their safe movement from
parking areas to the platforms and back. Lifts and escalators are also provided at
Stations for the use of passengers including the physically challenged.
Facility of vending mineral water, cool drinks, coffee and tea shall be provided at
all Stations.
Other retail areas which would enhance the experience of the rider have also
