Minions Ranked Attack - These models don't block line of sight for friendly models. Great for
Blindwater Congregation the Riflemen shooting CRAs, but also very useful for other troops shooting through
Thornfall Alliance to soften up an incoming melee unit
Combined Melee Attack - The officer makes an excellent model to initiate a CMA,
but be careful not to get him killed either as Reform and Team Effort (if you've not
used it already) will be lost.
Granted: Reform - Really useful in scenario play. It's nice to be able to advance 9"
and still benefit from Shield Wall. This can be used to send them up to prevent
Newbie Page enemies from getting into the objective/zones early on. Can also be useful late game
Faction Overview as their 9" objective threat makes it very hard to control points effectively. It can
General Strategies also be used to smash a solo or light 'jack and retreat out of counterattack range.

Army List Archive Mini-feat: Team Effort - Effectively provides Gang to the unit for one turn. Since
Theme Forces these guys have Reach and CMA, it's almost as good as +2 attack and damage.
Glossary of Abbreviations Unfortunately this is not cumulative, so an 11-model CMA under Team Effort is only
+13 to attack and damage, not +33. It's really useful as the Halberdiers usually split
their CMAs into usually about 2- or 3-model attacks. This means your strikes all
have the same power, you just get about twice as many.

How to Edit Thoughts on the Houseguard Halberdier Officer and Standard:
Donate A very useful UA; they are a definite must-have if you take Halberdiers. This UA makes
their unit faster, less likely to run and significantly stronger.
Other The only potential downside is that it takes a fairly cheap, almost throw-away unit up to a

slightly more substantial cost, and against anything that can pick the Officer off you can

expect his lifespan to be short (losing all the benefits that come with him), so keep him safe,
at least until you're going to use his mini-feat (preferably on the charge!). Otherwise, you'll
be unlikely to see any return on those points.

On paper, Halberdiers seem weaker than Dawnguard Sentinels but there is a case to be made
for their hitting power. A full unit of Sentinels costs the same as a full unit of Halberdiers +
UA, so the comparison is fair. Thier initial attack damage output is a little lower, but not
significantly so. However, during subsequent turns the damage output of Sentinels is
significantly higher. The comparison can be summed as:

In addition the Reform move should not be dismissed as it allows the unit to maneuver for
future attacks and/or advance 9" under the Shield Wall order (11" with the Houseguard
