How can I help? Houseguard Thane in a nutshell
How to Edit The Thane is a support solo for Retribution's three Houseguard units. He extends their
Donate threat range, and provides a solid buff for their guns. He also fixes their CMD issues.

Other The thane gives a new niche to the Riflemen by allowing them to ignore stealth, while also
Mk I Archive improving threat ranges and keeping units from breaking off terror checks. Enabling
Terrain Archive Halberdiers to Shield Wall further then most units can charge is also a nice trick, just watch
out for all the standard hazards of using Shield Wall. Generally he ends up hanging back
just behind the front lines where he can stay safe and keep buffing units while still being
able to get into range to control objectives, but he is perfectly capable of taking out or tieing
up annoying solos if necessary. If you're going to bring Halberdiers its strongly worth
considering him, and almost the reason why you would take Riflemen over our other ranged
units.

The Houseguard Thane is one of the most impactful solos released: if you run Houseguard,
and you should, you will run a Thane.

Combos & Synergies

Houseguard Halberdiers - Desperate Pace and Inspiration help push Halberdiers
farther and longer

 Houseguard Riflemen - Firing Solution allows them to get rid of pesky Stealth solos,
while Desperate Pace can be used to get them in the perfect position for turn 2
Lord Arcanist Ossyan - his feat likes guns, and the Thane has one! Quicken stacks
with Desperate Pace to really help Halberdiers assaults.
Ravyn - her feat likes guns, and the Thane has one!
Issyria - her feat improves both units the Thane is there to buff. Crusader's Call
stacks with Desperate Pace for speedy Halberdiers.

Drawbacks & Downsides

You have to forfeit your attacks to use Desperate Pace or Firing Solution
Your Thane needs to activate first to grant Desperate Pace or Firing Solution.
Beware Haley2.

Tricks and Tactics

Both his commands have a pretty high range, so the Thane does not need to be too
close to your forces
Desperate Pace also works on the Heavy Rifle Team, if you really have them in your
list, you can use it to get the team in a better position
After your Houseguard are in position, use the Thane to control a flag or a zone
without over-committing to it
