General Information on a Short Stay Schengen Visa

Tourist visa

Note: All submitted documents must be ORIGINALS

1. A COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM, which must be signed and dated at the Embassy.

2. 2 Recent passport sized PHOTOGRAPHS

3. PASSPORT/TRAVEL DOCUMENT Validity must exceed that of your


stay in the Schengen area by at least three months. The passport must have
been issued (not extended) in the last 10 years. The passport must have at
least two blank pages.

4. IRISH RE-ENTRY VISA Validity must exceed that of your stay in the
Schengen area by at least three months.

5. IRISH RESIDENCE PERMIT/GNIB Card Validity must exceed that of


your stay in the Schengen area by at least three months.

6. PROOF OF CURRENT ADDRESS IN IRELAND


(ESB bill, telephone bill, gas bill, bank statement, rent book, lease agreement etc.)

7. PROOF OF FUNDS Evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your
stay in the form of original bank statements (in your name) for the last three months.

8. PROOF OF CURRENT OCCUPATION IN IRELAND


· If you are employed: Recent letter from your employer.
· If you are self-employed: your company's registration certificate and a recent business print
out available from the Companies Registration Office.
· If you are a student: recent letter from your university / college / school confirming your
attendance/status, number of hours of tuition per week and duration of the course. Proof of
part-time employment if applicable.
· If you are retired: your pension booklet.
· lf you are a dependent: proof of your spouse's occupation and passport as well as your
marriage certificate, if applicable.

9. PROOF OF MEDICAL INSURANCE COVER


A valid, personal travel insurance which covers costs for emergency treatment by a doctor,
urgent ambulance transportation, transportation to the applicant’s country of residence if
required for medical reasons. The insurance must cover at least 30,000 Euro and be valid in all
Schengen states and cover the total length of stay. Applicants should take medical insurance in
Ireland. Please note that the European Health Insurance Card issued by the Irish authorities does
not cover costs for repatriation and is therefore not accepted without additional travel insurance
cover. Please submit the insurance certificate and policy.
10. PROOF OF ACCOMMODATION
Upon application: confirmed hotel/hostel/B&B reservation(s) covering the length of your stay
in Greece and, if applicable, in other Schengen countries. The names of all applicants must be
shown on the reservation.
A confirmation of full payment of the accommodation must be shown when you collect your
visa.
Please note: If you change your hotel booking after you handed in your visa application, a new
application has to be filed.

11. RETURN TICKET


Upon application: confirmed print out of your flight/ferry/rail/bus itinerary, including return
ticket(s)

12. NON-REFUNDABLE VISA HANDLING FEE.

NOTICE FOR MINORS

For minors (under 18), both parents must be present when the visa application is made. In all cases
of minor applicants the following documents are required:
- Birth certificate (also stating the names of parents). If certificate is not issued by EU member state
competent authorities, it must have legalization or Apostille stamp on it and be translated to Greek or
English (if issued in other languages).
- Letter from school (if applicable).
- Parents’ original passports and Irish Residence permit/GNIB card, if parents are Non-EU
nationals.
- Written consent of legal guardian(s) for the journey intended (signatures must be certified). Proof
of guardianship must be provided.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

· Only if all documents are presented can an application be submitted.


· The Embassy can request additional documents as applications are dealt with on a case to case
basis, and this information cannot cover all eventualities.
· False statements or attempts to provide the Embassy with fraudulent documents result in the
rejection of the visa application, i.e. the visa will not be issued.
· Changes to your travel itinerary and / or accommodation after submission of your application
are not possible. In such an event a new application has to be filed.
· Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration controls and are not guaranteed entry
into any of the Schengen countries.
· Please note that the acceptance / processing of your application does not guarantee that the
visa will be authorized/issued.
