Research Topic / Area of Study Law Enforcement

Connection to research paper My paper focused on a lot of the different forces and branches
of law enforcement and the education and training required to
become a police officer. I hope to use this obstacle course to
show, in a fun way, what it takes to go through the intense
training required to graduate from the police academy.

Goal of product / what problem or I hope to use this obstacle course to show, in a fun way, what it
need solved or addressed takes to go through the intense training required to graduate
from the police academy. I also want to teach kids to have a
great respect for our local law enforcement and the intense
training it requires.

Estimated time to complete It will take me approximately one month to complete, during
this month I will have to talk with my mentor, gather supplies,
and set up a location to run the course.

People who will assist (if applicable) My mentor, officer parker, coach deffenbaugh, friends, the
children participating

Estimated cost / investment The estimated cost of my product will be roughly around
$100.00.

What will judges see at The judges will see photos or a video(depends on what parents
presentation? (evidence of work consent to) of the obstacle course taking place, they will see
and development) student survey, the communication between myself and coach
D(PE teacher) and the parents, and also a live demo with the
judges.

Personal stretch (area of growth) Communication with adults in a professional manner,

organizing an event, presenting the obstacle course in a large
crowd is intimidating to me.

Product Description:

My product is to make a fun obstacle course for children in my community. I want to bring
together the youth and show them a fun way they can relate themselves to law enforcement. Law
enforcement is being criticized poorly right now in our country and if I can make our youth relate
and respect them by having fun in a obstacle course then i feel like i succeeded. I plan to set up an
obstacle course similar to what police officers have to complete when they go through training. I
want to make it fun for children but also show how hard it is. I want to complete this at Pine Lake
during a lower school P.E. class. After the obstacle course I tend to select a handful of kids and
interview them on their opinion of becoming a Police Officer.

1) Talk to Coach Deffenbaugh

2) Pick

Notes- Complete the obstacle course during the lower schools PE classes, or assembly

Notes- Consent forms to take video, interview kids, do a survey for the kids for what they think it
takes to become officer
