MURRAY: HERMAN BELL RELEASE A DISGRACE

A Statement from Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) on the decision to grant parole to
convicted cop-killer and Black Liberation Army member Herman Bell

“Herman Bell was a militant radical who purposely and cowardly murdered two NYPD
police officers as part of the Black Liberation Movement.

“The decision to parole convicted cop-killer Herman Bell is a direct affront to justice and
flies in the face of those who put their lives on the line to protect us every day.

“No one convicted of murdering a first responder should see the light of day, and I am
calling for every parole board member who voted for this grave injustice to be terminated
immediately.

“Blatant displays of injustice are why we need to pass my legislation, A.1726, to ensure
that those like Herman Bell, who gun down police officers, are sentenced to the death penalty.”
