Re: Daneryl Weber and her involvement in the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP)

To Whom it May Concern:

Daneryl Weber came into my “AVP” awareness as an answer to a very heart-felt prayer! We were about
to lose a particularly robust and flourishing AVP program at Woodbourne Correctional Facility because
the outside coordinator was stepping down without a replacement, and while I was able to “pinch-hit,” I
was unable to make that level commitment. Daneryl responded to my plea on our “list-serve,” stepped
up to coordinate and rescued that program.

From the very first conversation, I knew we were golden! As a volunteer facilitator with the Alternatives
to Violence Project in New York State for over twenty-five years, and one invested enough to build a
career spreading AVP-based processes to people struggling with mental health challenges
[www.heartcircleconsulting.com] , I immediately recognized a kindred soul in Daneryl Weber… someone
with the heart, passion and willingness to bring her considerable gifts to bear, and keep our vibrant
prison program alive. I haven’t wavered a breath from that view-point and continue to discover more
treasure!

So far, Daneryl’s gifts include (and are not limited to!) reliability – she shows up and does what she says
she will do; caring, kindness, empathy, warmth – I benefit in our interactions from these natural
attributes, and am always receiving feedback that the inside facilitators feel this way too; terrific people
skills, respectful, sensitive to nuance – she’s great at relationships… this is valuable generally, and
particularly when navigating requirements of prison administration; passion, willingness, commitment –
her heart is all over this work(!) and beyond…

There is more to share, including observations on the generosity of offering her home when I facilitate in
her area, and on her thoroughly invested style as a professor at Sullivan County Community College and
Sullivan Correctional Facility (I have heard raves from incarcerated people on her teaching too), but the
broad stroke picture of Daneryl’s life simply depicts a dedicated, consistent and characteristic “servant
of love.”

Thanks be for Daneryl Weber!

Sincerely,

Lead Facilitator,
Alternatives to Violence Project
