Objective/s:
Students will be able to identify the compass rose, and the map key as different characteristics
of maps by drawing their own map
Vocabulary terms and definitions:
GLOBE- A spherical representation of the earth
COORDINATES- A set of values that show an exact position
MAP KEY- Usually in a corner of the map, the “key” or “legend” is a small table of symbols
that is used on the map, with their explanations
CARDINAL DIRECTIONS- The four cardinal points are north, south, east, and west

and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
Students will use the internet to play map games.
Brainpop videos will be viewed.

We are going to go to different
stations to learn about compass -

importance of maps.
