What is Eye Surgery
• Cataract affects both eyes and is more common in the adults (60 and above).
• The surgical procedure is safe and successful and is recommended for the
people who have vision loss hampering their daily life functions.
• If the patient is suffering from any other eye disease then cataract surgery is
not recommended.
• The time duration of the surgery is thirty minutes and is performed under
minimal sedation. Artificial lens is inserted in place of original ones to restore
and improve vision.

• Phacoemulsification is performed under
local anaesthesia.
• To dissolve the hazy lens the most
common type of ultrasonic vibrations are
used.

Corrective Surgery
Surgical Therapy
There can be many defects in the upper eyelid
involving one third or less of the horizontal length
of the upper eyelid.
Pentagonal wedge excision is removal of large
lesions.
There are various other wedge excisions that can
correct lid kinking, ectropion, and notching.
Presbyopia Surgery
• Major difference between PRK and LASIK is that in the case of PRK the
removal of epithelium which is the outermost corneal cell layer is
undertaken.
• The removal is performed before the surgery.
• It takes three to five days in the process of regrowth of the cell layer.
