ABOUT KLE University

The KLE University is a Deemed-to-be-University of Health Sciences, accredited with

‘A’ Grade in the 2nd Cycle by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The Government of India (MHRD) has placed the KLE University in Category ‘A’.
It has Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy and Nursing Sciences institutions
as its Constituent Units, offering Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Post-Doctoral / Doctor of
Philosophy (Ph.D) Programs in the disciplines of Health Sciences, including Inter-disciplinary
Research.

Pursuant to the directions dated: 11th April, 6th May and 9th May 2016 in No.261/2015-16
of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, KLEU cancelled its medical UG Entrance Test originally
proposed on 7th May 2016 and instead proposes to conduct seat selection counselling process based
on National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) results of CBSE.

This Brochure contains how and what the candidates have to follow as procedure for
filling the application, eligibility criteria, eligibility to participate in seat selection process,
mandatory certificates / documents to be produced, etc.

The applicants are required to read this brochure thoroughly before making the application
and adhere to the rules and procedure strictly. Further, The KLEU website
www.kleuniversity.edu.in contains information and current updates / alerts. This site is updated
regularly. It is suggested to all applicants to visit it frequently for relevant information.

 Proposed Admission Policy of the KLE University for

Under-Graduate Medical and Dental Courses from the academic year 2016-17
Only for the academic year 2016-17

The proposed admission policy of the KLE University for Under-Graduate Medical (MBBS)
and Dental (BDS) courses in its constituent units viz. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi and
KLE Vishwanath Katti Institute of Dental Sciences, Belagavi for the academic year 2016-17 and
onwards has been framed as under:

1. 50% of the seats will be based on the All India Category.

2. 15% of the seats will be admitted as under:

o Non-Residential Indian (NRI), Foreign students Quota
o Other eligible Indian Students on the basis of NEET.

3. 35% of seats are reserved for the students of Belagavi Revenue Division (BRD) and
KLE University Staff Category, KLE Science Institutions, KLE Society Staff Member
Category, KLE Founders, Donors, Board of Management, Benefactors, Grand Patrons, Patrons,
Fellows, Life Members, their Grand Children, Descendants and Ordinary Members Category
and Belagavi City Municipal Corporation Category.

NOTE:

a) Any seat remaining vacant / unfilled under the specified category hereunder,
will be transferred to General Category.

1. GENERAL CATEGORY QUOTA [50%]:

MBBS Duration: 4 ½ years plus 1 year compulsory rotating internship.

BDS Duration: 4 years plus 1 year compulsory rotating internship.

Eligibility:
Citizenship: Indian National.
Qualifications:
5.1 MBBS: As prescribed by the Medical Council of India & KLEU.
Note:
5.1.a For candidates seeking admission to MBBS course, the candidate should
have scored minimum 5 0% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together in the qualifying examination. i.e. XIIth /PUC II/
10+2/ HSC / equivalent examination. The candidate should also have scored
50% marks in English language in the qualifying exam.
5.1.b Candidates m u s t be Q u a l i f y securing valid NEET-2016 rank.
5.1.c The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination
[XIIth/ PUC-II/ 10+2/HSC / B.Sc.- Degree / first year of three year degree
course as specified by Medical Council of India to be considered as
eligibility] earlier than 2013 are NOT eligible for applying to KLEU-
Counseling-2016-17 for seeking admission to MBBS course.
5.1.d Candidate should have passed qualifying examination from a Board recognized by
the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.
5.1.e The candidates shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December
2016 (31/12/2016) for admission to the MBBS/BDS course.

5.2 BDS: As prescribed by the Dental Council of India & KLEU.

Note:
5.2.a For candidates seeking admission to BDS course, the candidate should
have scored minimum 50% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together in the qualifying examination. i.e. XIIth /PUC II/
10+2/ HSC / equivalent examination. The candidate should also have passes
in English language in the qualifying exam.
5.2.b Candidates m u s t Q u a l i f y securing valid NEET-2016 rank.
5.2.c The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination
XIIth / PUC-II/10+2/HSC / B.Sc.- Degree / first year of three year degree course
as specified by Dental Council of India are to be considered as eligible for
applying.
5.2.d Candidate should have passed qualifying examination from a Board recognized
by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.
5.2.e The candidates shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December

1. Instructions to the Candidates:
Introduction:
Students will be admitted to various Courses in the constituent colleges of KLE University viz.
J. N. Medical College Belagavi and KLE V.K. Institute of Dental Sciences Belagavi, on the basis of
‘inter- se’ merit earned by them in the NEET-2016-17.
1) 50% of the seats will be based on the All India Category (GENERAL Category).

2) 35% of seats are reserved for the students of Belagavi Revenue Division (BRD) and KLE
University Staff Category (KUS), KLE Science Institutions (KSI), KLE Society Staff Member
Category (KSSM), KLE Founders, Donors, Board of Management, Benefactors, Grand
Patrons, Patrons, Fellows, Life Members, their Grand Children, Descendants and Ordinary
Members Category (KFDB) and Belagavi City Municipal Corporation Category (BCMC).

1.4.d Those claiming seats in the above categories must specifically indicate the same in the
Application form.
Eligible candidate can apply in multiple category, changes in later stage cannot be
rectified or corrected.
1.4.e Their admission will be on ‘Inter-se’ merit.
1.4.g Decision of the authorities of KLE University in case of disputes will be final.

Instructions for filling up of Registration Form

1 The Application form and mode of payment of prescribed application should be submitted “Online”
only.
2 1. Name of the Applicant:
Enter your full Name (as it appears in your SSLC/10th Std Marks Card), In the case of a candidate who has
changed his/ her name for any reason, the original proof of the same has to be produced at the time of counselling.
2. Date of Birth - DOB to be entered as per 10th /SSLC Marks card only.
3. Email-ID: - Enter your valid Email ID for all correspondence. Please note that the same email id has to be
used for all further correspondence.
4. Mobile No: - Enter your valid Mobile number. Please note that the same mobile number has to be used for all
further correspondence.
3 If the date or month of birth is a single digit, it should be prefixed with a zero. For example 6th
February, 1985 should be written as:- 06/02/1985
4 In case of more than one application form filled with different category latest application will be
considered.
The University has right to decline or consider change of category if candidate fails to submit the
documents for proof of category during any stage of counselling.
5 The declaration in the online application form is to be signed both by the applicant and the parent /
guardian of the applicant, on the downloaded printed copy of the Application Form.
6 Address should be entered in capital letters.
9 “Online” submitted application form / acknowledgement must be printed and should be carried
during the counseling.

10 Candidates are advised to obtain & preserve proof of the 'Printed online' application form /
acknowledgement.

11 Note:
• If order id is generated ensure from your bank account whether amount is deducted or not.
If not deducted you can fill one more application form. If amount is deducted please mail us
your order id and your transaction details and contact details to following e-mail id:
itsection@kleuniversity.edu.in so as to ensure or rectify the error of clarification of payment
transaction.
• If you fill more than one application by making different payment amount will not be
refunded.
• University will not refund / charge back in any case i.e duplication of application and Bank
transaction failure.

Scope of KLEU Counseling 2016:

The Counselling/seat selection process is being conducted only at BELAGAVI (BELGAUM)

CATEGORY DETAILS :

Seats are reserved under following criteria on the basis of inter-se merit on the basis of NEET
ranking.

2. BELAGAVI REVEVUE DIVISION (BRD) QUOTA [20%]:

Preamble:
2.1 Belagavi is a divisional revenue headquarters that comprise of seven districts viz. Belagavi,
Dharwad, Karwar, Vijayapur, Bagalkot, Haveri & Gadag, of North Karnataka Region since
British days. People hailing from these districts were responsible for the establishment of
K.L.E Society and its institutions - KLE Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and
KLE Vishwanath Katti Institute of Dental Sciences, Belagavi which are now the constituent
institutions of the KLE University. Hence, 40 MBBS and 20 BDS seats have been reserved for
the children of the parents permanently residing in these areas for not less than 10 years and
their children having studied for a minimum period of 10 years from 1st to 12th standard.
Seats are reserved for the students hailing from educationally backward Belagavi
Revenue Division (BRD Category) Consisting of districts of Belagavi, Dharwad, Karwar,
Vijayapur, Bagalkot, Haveri, and Gadag.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students claiming seats under BRD category should satisfy the following criteria:

1)The Students Parents should be permanent Residents (Minimum 10 Years) of one of the
seven Districts viz. Belagavi, Dharwad, Karwar, Vijayapur, Bagalkot, Haveri, and Gadag.
and
2) The students should have done at least ten years of schooling (Primary and Secondary
including PUC I & PUC II (compulsory) in any of the above mentioned seven districts.
Documents required:
1) Parent’s recent residential certificate issued by the Tahsildar to be produced during counselling.

2) Applicant’s study Certificate of schooling (1st Std. to 10th Std.) and PUC I and PUC II to be
produced during counselling.

3. KLE UNIVERSITY STAFF CATEGORY (KUS) QUOTA [2.5%]:

Preamble:

The staff members of the constituent colleges of the KLE University have contributed in
delivering quality education to the students undergoing education in various faculties of
learning. The Management has decided to reserve 5 seats for MBBS Course and 3 Seats for
BDS Course exclusively for the staff members of KLE University under the category KUS as
an encouragement to the teaching and non-teaching staff for their services.

Staff of constituent colleges of KLE University serving more than 15 years up to satisfaction of
management are eligible.

In exceptional cases, depending on staff requirement for institution or for betterment of

institution etc, Chancellor will have discretion to give permission to eligible candidates for
admission, as per prevailing service norms.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students claiming seats under KUS category should satisfy the following criteria:

Only parents serving in constituent units of KLE University not less than 15 years without any
adverse service records are eligible for KUS category, as per prevailing service norms. The
application should be forward through the Head of the Institutions.

Documents required:
-Parents recent Service Certificate to be produced during counselling.
4. 4.1 KLE SCIENCE INSTITUTIONS STUDENTS (KSI) QUOTA [2.5%]:

Preamble:

2.5% of the seats are to be reserved for the students who have studied in KLE Science
Institutions. This will help and encourage the students to take admission to KLE Institutions
wherever they are situated.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students claiming seats under KLE Science Institutions category should satisfy the following
criteria:
The students should have done at least ten years of schooling (Primary and Secondary
including PUC I & PUC II (compulsory) in any of the KLE institutions across India are
eligible.
Documents required:
Applicant’s Study Certificate of schooling of 1st Std. to 10th Std and PUC I and PUC II to be
produced during counselling.

5. KLE Society Staff Members (KSSM) category [2.5% ]:

Preamble:

5.1 K.L.E Society, Belagavi is the sponsoring society of KLE University. The institutions under
KLE university are those institutions which have been originally established and run by
K.L.E Society over the years. The immense contribution of the K.L.E Society staff in the
furtherance of the Society’s institutions and the sponsored KLE University are noteworthy and
hence the management hereby reserves 5 MBBS seats for the children of staff members of
K.L.E Society under the above named category as an encouragement.
Seats are reserved for the children of all the staff working in K.L.E Society’s Institutions,
Schools, Colleges, Hospitals or any other Institutions other than KLE University Staff.

5.1.a Eligibility Criteria:

Only parent serving in the Institutions of the KLE Society more than 15 years of service
without any adverse service records are eligible under this Category, as per prevailing service
norms. The application should be forward through the head of the Institution.

In exceptional cases staff requirement for institution or for betterment of institution etc to give
permission to eligible candidates or taking necessary service bond.

Documents required:
Parents recent service certificate to be produced during counselling.

6. KLE DONORS/FOUNDER MEMBERS/ BENEFACTORS / GRAND PATRONS / PATRONS /

FELLOWS / BOARD OF MANAGEMENT/ LIFE MEMBERS/ THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS/
DESCENDANTS & ORDINARY MEMBERS (KFDPB) CATEGORY: 5%

Preamble:

6.1 The ten founder members and innumerable KLE donors, the members of the Board of
Management, Life members and all the members of the K.L.E Society have been responsible
for the establishment and furtherance of the K.L.E Society in imparting education and health
care to the people at large. The Society enjoys National and International recognition through
its activities for which we attribute and credit to these category of people. Hence, the
Management hereby reserves 10 MBBS seats and 5 BDS seats for course under the above
named category.

Eligibility Criteria:

Membership and particulars should be submitted through KLE Society Head Office signed by
Hon Chairman or Secretary of KLE Society.

Documents required:

-Documents as proof for above should be produced during counselling.

 7. Belagavi City Municipal Corporation (BCMC) Category:

Preamble:

7.1 The Belagavi City Municipal Corporation allotted 99 acres of land to the KLE Society at
Nehru Nagar, Belagavi in the year 1964 for the establishment of J.N.Medical College, Belagavi.
The Society thereafter established a number of Institutions on the said campus. While allotting
the land, the Belagavi City Municipal Corporation laid a condition that the Society will reserve
5 seats for the children of the residents of the City of Belagavi. As per the agreement, 5 MBBS
seats and 5 BDS seats are reserved under the above named category.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Applicant parents should be permanent residents (Minimum 15 Years) of Belagavi City
Municipal Corporation.
The Applicant should have done at least ten years of schooling of Primary and Secondary
including PUC I & PUC II (compulsory) in Belagavi City Municipal Corporation LIMITS.

Documents required:
Parents Recent Residential Certificate issued by commissioner of Belgaum City corporation to
be produced during counselling.
Applicant’s Study Certificate of schooling of 1st Std. to 10th Std and PUC I and PUC II to be
produced during counselling.

DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED:
 Scanned copies of Applicant’s Photo and Signature

For uploading photo the following procedure shall be adopted:

1) Recent colored Photograph with light background.(Preferable same as that of NEET admit card)
2) The same photo should be used for all the subsequent processes such as Counseling and
admission.
3) The photograph should have a full face view looking into the camera directly. The main
features of the face must not be covered by hair of the head, any cloth or any shadow.
Forehead, Eyes, Nose and Chin should be clearly visible
4) The photograph should be in .JPEG /JPG image format
5) The Scan image should be less than 80 kb and should be of 30mm*45 mm dimension.

For uploading signature the following procedure shall be adhered to:

1) Signature should be made with black pen on white paper by the candidate for uploading.
2) Dimensions should be 35 x 80 mm and Maximum file size should be 80 kb.
3) The image should be of .jpg or .jpeg format.

Counselling Process Fees:

The fee for KLEU-2016 COUNSELLING is Rs. 500 (Five Hundred) and the same will not be
refunded due to any reason.

NOTE:-
1) Application forms without any of the above mandatory documents will be rejected.
2) All applications have to be submitted online ONLY and no HARD COPY of the application is
to be send to KLE University office.

Please review all the details before submitting the Application Form.
All the Details given in the application form will be used for further processes.
Once the Application Form is submitted online, no changes can be made.

Legal Disputes: Legal disputes if any pertaining to KLEU-AIET-2016-17 or Centralized Counseling

shall be subjected to competent courts located in the jurisdiction of Belagavi city only (Karnataka State).
