E-Learning in India: Dreaming to Education Nation By Their Own (Swayam)

With the rapid change in technology, there arises a substantial need for development
in education system which can not only improve the quality of education, but also the
presentation and experience of modern educational dynamics. To add to it, there comes
‘Online Education or E-Learning’ platforms. E-Learning provides accessibility of basic as
well as advanced levels of learning to one and all. As the technological developments taking
place, people are becoming aware of smart phone features and mobile telephony is taking
shape towards high speed data transfer at reasonable rate. At the same time, Online education
is can make its mark to everybody’s daily life by providing accessible and readable contents
in their pockets. This feature of technology is widely being explored by international websites
like, Coursera, and edx. These website have launched their apps for smart phones to reach to
the masses. A similar exercise in now being performed by Government of India through its
own Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs), platform popularly known as ‘Swayam.’ Govt.
has rightly named is as ‘Swayam’ which literally means, ‘By your own’. This paper is
capturing the need of such online programs and services in one’s life to enhance their
knowledge level while using the technological advantages.
