Throughout my program of study I have had the opportunity to observe various grade levels
and teaching environments around the school district. One factor that has stood out to me the
most is the correlation between the teacher, the learning environment, and student outcomes. It
has become clear to me that it is just as important for the teacher to develop in character as it is
for students.

displaying professional dispositions in a purposeful manner each and every day. There are many
ways to actively demonstrate these dispositions within the classroom. Some of these ways
include: creating a safe and welcoming learning classroom environment, establishing high
expectations for all students; using a variety of instructional strategies and revising instruction
based on student needs; continually assessing students using informal and formal methods;
respecting and celebrating diversity within the classroom and community; and showing students
respect, sensitivity, patience, and a caring attitude. Another part of demonstrating dispositions is
constructive criticism.
Throughout my life I have learned many characteristics that I strive to demonstrate through
my words and actions when I interact with others, because I believe that although words may be
important, actions will ultimately reflect a persons’ true character. Within my course of study I
feel I have grown in the characteristics I already possess and I have learned new characteristics
that I have begun to develop within my professional career. It has become clearer to me during
