LIST OF KEY INFORMANTS

The people were contacted during Key Informant Interviews that were conducted between 26
February and 02 March 2007 in various locations in Ngamiland.

1) Molatedi Totang Dingalo, Std 7, Senior Chief Representative, Shorobe, (33 years in
the position). Key Responsibilities: General tribal administration matters;
coordination of village development projects in consultation with the VDC;
adjudication and arbitration of minor judicial matters.

2) Meshack Elias, Diploma (Animal Health), Principal Technical Officer (Pasture and
Fodder Production), Department of Animal Health and Production, Maun, 26
years in the position (interrupted by a few years transfer in same job to Selibe-
Phikwe area).

3) Goitseone Okwa, 2-Year JC, Secretary, Sepopa Farmers Association, Sepopa (2


years in position). Key Responsibilities: To collect, collate and transmit farmer’s
needs to agricultural officials; to keep records of the association.

4) Nixon Mogapi, MCP, Land Board Secretary, Tawana Main Land Board, Maun (2
years in position, but had more than 10 years experience in different parts of
Botswana). Oversight of the Board’s land allocation and administration function
and its financial management system in consultation with the Board and central
and other local government agencies.

5) Kabo Mosweu, BA, Coordinator, TOCADI (Trust for Okavango Cultural &
Development Initiatives), Shakawe (7 years in position). Key Responsibilities:
General administration, project implementation and oversight of financial
administration.

6) Kabelo Moriri, Form Five, Administration Manager, OPCT (Okavango Panhandle


Community Trust), Shakawe (3 years in position). Key Responsibilities: general
administration and financial oversight of the trust.

7) Mbote Samahunga, Sub-B (Std 2), Chairman, Tuyereke Farmers Committee,


Kauxwi (in position since for 8 years, but been member for 36 years (since 1970).
Key Responsibilities: To guide and give direction to the activities of the
committee.

8) Hannelore Bendsen, MSc, ODMP focal person and participatory planner, HOORC
(Harry Oppenheimer Okavango Research Center), Maun. (6.5 years in the
position, with more than 10 years experience in Botswana). Key Responsibilities:
Advice ODMP institutions on participatory planning methods; facilitate ODMP
action research team.

9) Patrick Kgori, MSc, Entomologist, Department of Animal Health and Production,


Maun; Chairman of the study’s Technical Advisory/Steering Committee (9 years
in the position). Key Responsibilities: Tsetse control.

10) Otukile Kebatsetse, BSc Assistant Scientific Officer, Department of Animal Health
and Production, Maun (2 years in the position). Key Responsibilities: ODMP
focal person; livestock identification and trace-back system; disease surveillance.
11) Ramogapi Gaborekwe, MA, Rural Sociologist, ODMP Secreta riat, Maun (2 years in
the position). Key Responsibilities: To incorporate social issues into
environmental planning and implementation processes of the ODMP.

12) C.Naidu Kurugundla, PhD, Senior Botanist, Department of Water Affairs (10 years
in the position). Key Responsibilities: biodiversity; water quality; control of
aquatic weeds in surface water.
