INTRODUCTION

In response to the goal of Department of Agriculture to intensify the promotion of

good coffee-growing practices to improve productivity, the Local Government Unit of

South Cotabato, provided additional coffee colonal gardens and nurseries to produce

planting materials of good quality. In fact, coffee farming is shifting slowly to Mindanao,

pushed by the rising cost of land in traditional coffee-producing provinces like Cavite.

According to the findings of the latest research in food industry worldwide, coffee

is considered as the world's second most consumed beverage after water and the

second most traded commodity after petroleum. In fact, worldwide coffee consumption

stood at 149.26 million bags or 8,955 million kilograms of coffee. In world trade, it is first

among the non-staple and is rated as the fifth most important agricultural product.

The Department of Trade and Industry said that establishing coffee plantation is

one of its priority clusters aside from cacao, bamboo, coconut, gifts, house wares and

decors, processed fruits and nuts, rubber, among others, that it recently introduced the

newly developed coffee brands produced from the different municipalities of the

province. The DTI, together with the Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor

and Employment, and the Department of Science and Technology, will provide

assistance to boost the development of the coffee industry by introducing the plantation

and post-harvest technology; improve processing performance; enhance the promotion

and marketing; and providing conducive business environment.


1. TRADE NAME

Kape Planta, “coffee plantation” in English term, established to increase,

enhance and improve coffee production. The business will upsurge the

production of coffee in the locality. It t aims to enrich and develop the demand of

coffee, “Fill your day with Robusta Coffee.”

2. PROBLEM STATEMENT

2.1 The Need

The study foresees the increasing demand of this product through the years. The

business will sustain the need or the demand of people on coffee. It will give a

benefit to the farmers, target market and also to the nation’s economy. Farmers

will be benefitted for those who want to practice sustainable agriculture and to

communities who want fresh, healthy and locally – produced food.

of establishing Touch Wellness Center in Tacurong City.

4. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The result of the study in mass production of coffee will benefit the investors,

society, consumers and anyone who will have the interest about the study in

consideration that the product is in tradition of many people to have. The investors will

have information about the feasibility of setting up and viability of coffee production

because there is a great demand of coffee. The proposed business production is the

one of the nearest producer and supplier of coffee beans, it is indeed a help in revealing

the increasing trend of demand in the said province.
