Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This lesson plan is especially targeted to help my ESL and students with
hearing disabilities. The Quizlet has language features where it could translate material in Spanish. The
speaking feature could also help a student who has trouble hearing. With some headphones the student
could get the problems read them. Since there so many different activities in the Quizlet, it helps different
types of learners as well.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. I will do a class discussion on why we need to learn to add and subtract. I will tell the
students how the material is relevant to the real world. I will show a BrainPOP video to introduce the topic. To
them for the first time. Then, I will let them do some online math games that go along with the topic.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The students will have a choice from the
features on Quizlet on how to practice the material. The teacher will be supervising the activity. If a student
needs help or does not understand the question, the teacher will then assist. The only materials needed is a
computer or tablet. This activity will at least last 30 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No

☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Yes, this way the students have actual answers to the questions that will be on test. All the student's need to
do is study.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? (One par) I will have the class break into smaller
groups. One group who is getting the material will work by themselves on harder practice sheet, and then
help a group who is not struggling as much on the material, but still needs some assistance. Another group
who is still having trouble will work with me in group. Once everyone is done, we will go over the sheet and
do a math basketball game in two teams. Each right answer spoken verbally will get a point and be able to
shoot a basket for their team.
How will the data be used? The feedback will be used to see what the students are still struggling on. I will
gather that data and go over the questions they are struggling as class to clarify any misconceptions. This is
good feedback for parents to see how their kids are performing on the lesson, and they get to see what their
children need help their on at home. The students will log in through my account to practice their addiction
and subtraction facts of five. This Quizlet is meant more for the students to have a study tool to practice the
material through different medians.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My goal for this activity is to differeniate learning to
meet my student's needs. My students will have access to my Quizlet to practice the material with flash cards,
by writing, through practice tests, matching, and two games to learn the material. I want my students to have
as much practice as they wish to feel prepare for their actual test. Also, I want them to have a choice on how
they chose to practice the material. This tool is especially targeted to help my ESL and students with hearing
disabilities.
Reflective Practice: I feel like my activities will prepare my students for the final assessment of the material.
The students will be impacted by this activity because they can see they can have fun learning material. They
also come to realize that they are given a choice on how to learn the material. I realized last minute on how I
need to make the material interesting and relevant to the real world. Next time, I could possibly show careers
on people who focus on math and daily activities they will need this kind of math for.
