myMaker Robotics Challenge 2018

1. Objective
Participants (one team) are required to build two (2) self-contained mobile robots that are able to move from
the home position to the opponent’s zone to attack opponent and its tower within three (3) minutes.
Team Structure: This game is taken as Open Category. Each team consists of one (1) instructor and maximum
of two (2) members.

2. Robot Specifications
2.1 Dimensions and Weight
2.1.1 The full extension size of the robots shall NOT exceed 180mm(L) x 180mm(W), there is NO
limit in robot’s height. However, MINIMUM front height of the robot should be 35mm (in order
to trigger the sensor on tower).
2.1.2 The MAXIMUM weight of the robot is 1kg.
2.2 Restriction on the Robot Design
2.2.1 Robots shall NOT employ any active weapon. Projectile weapons or saw-blades are prohibited.
2.2.2 Robots shall NOT damage the arena deliberately.
2.2.3 Robots shall NOT throw liquid or powder or other substances at the opponent.
2.2.4 Robots should NOT secure itself on the ring surface by using, suction cups, diaphragms, sticky
treads, glue or other such devices.
2.2.5 The robot is powered with NOT greater than 12 Volt by single or combination battery.
2.3 Control Method
2.3.1 The robot SHALL be wireless remoted control. The radio-controlled frequencies shall only be
FM27Mhz or 2.4GHz Digital Spectrum Modulation (DSM).
2.3.2 Bluetooth controller and WiFi controller are allowed.
2.3.3 Wireless PS2 Controller or PS3 Controller are recommended.
2.3.4 Participants should take the necessary considerations of their own wireless remote-control
interferences if any. Organizers will not be responsible for outside wireless interferences. No
external physical intervention is allowed.
2.4 Labelling
2.4.1 All robots MUST be labelled with their team names on the front/top of the robot. The minimum
font size is Arial 24.

3. Arena Specifications
3.1 The game field is made of mild steel/wood/acrylic which measures 2400mm(L) × 1200mm(W).
3.2 There are obstacles (block, fencing, uneven surfaces and ramp) as the terrain of the game field. The
maximum height of uneven terrains (ground clearance) is approximate 30mm. The height of the
ramp is 150mm and the slope angle is approximate 30 degrees.
3.3 The target (emergency switch) of the tower’s gate is located at the height of 35mm from the ground.
3.4 Robots are required to place at starting zone (colour region) before the game start.

4. Game Play
4.1 Game Procedure
4.1.1 The tournament shall divide the participating teams into groups of 4 or 6 teams.
4.1.2 A match consists of 3 rounds. Each round shall last for 3 minutes.
4.1.3 1 point shall be given to winner. 0 point shall be given to the loser. For the case of draw game,
both teams will be given 0 point.
4.1.4 The teams shall pass through the specific obstacles to attack the opponent’s tower. There is various
type of obstacles, teams are required to plan their strategic route to reach the target.
4.1.5 The tower is equipped with 3 gates. Each gate consists of 1 LED health bar and emergency switch.
When emergency switch is being pressed, 1 LED health bar will be dim off. When all the 3 LED
health bars dim off, the attacker wins.
4.1.6 Teams shall defence own territory at the same time attack opponent’s tower.
4.2 Match Winner
4.2.1. The winner is declared with clear win when the opponent robot Deactivates all three health bars
(turn off all the LED Bulbs) by hitting on the opponent’s tower within 3 minutes.
4.2.2 A robot wins when both of the opponent robots Immobilized in the game.
4.2.3 If there is no clear win, the team with Higher health bars (more lighted LED Bulbs) will be
declared as the winner.
4.2.4 If there is draw situation (same amount of LED Bulbs), additional time of 1 minute will be given.
The team who success to give the First attack on the opponent’s tower (dim off 1 LED bulbs) in
the additional time will be declared as winner.
4.3 Service Time
