Partnering with PREPARED and National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)
Planning for Resilience through Policy,
Adaptation, Research and Economic
Development (PREPARED) contracted
Uganda Coalition for Sustainable (UCSD)
to conduct a Customer Satisfaction Survey
(CSS) in Jinja and Iganga in order to establish
a strategy for engagement between National
Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)
customers and NWSC to stop activities
leading to Non-Revenue Water (NRW). This was in 2015. Upon completing the Customer Satisfaction Survey, UCSD had to
develop a Customer Engagement Framework involved broadcasting a 15 week radio campaign, holding community meetings
with NWSC customers in Jinja and Iganga, visiting places of worship by NWSC staff and working with elected community
leaders at Divisional/Sub-County and Municipal level through Water Community Communication Clubs (WACOCO). These were
channels of communication used to sensitize NWSC customers with in Jinja and Iganga to have a more proactive rapport with
NWSC. The multiple platforms were used to build stronger feedback mechanisms to address issues of Non-Revenue Water.
