Ms. Nina Tinsley,

My name is Alexa Clarke, and I am reaching out regarding the open position for a 6th grade
math teacher for the Vista College Prep campus, as found on the Arizona Education
Employment Board website. I have had experience in the 6th grade, as well as other middle
school grade level fields. I also received a Bachelor’s in Education with a science and
mathematics emphasis in 2019.

Of the three internships I completed, all were based in a classroom. I learned how to
connect with students, as well as finding ways to give a different perspective on the
problems at hand. Each taught me how to approach students of all types and how to
overcome the given objections from each of them. Being in the classroom as an aid rather
than a teacher has given me the opportunity to see a student from a more objective stand
point, further allowing me to see other means of teaching.

I noticed that Vista College Prep is a high-performing schools with high academic
expectations for each of their students. During my elementary, middle, and high school
years, I participated in several advanced placement classroom, with my strongest success
in mathematics. This could be a great help in pushing the students forward within their
success because I have been in their shoes and understand the pressure and drive that
comes with being an excelling student.

Student teaching was my greatest learning experience. Because of the prior internships, I
was able to take what I have learned as an objective party and place it in my teaching
curriculum. I was able to student teach in another 6th grade classroom similar to my first
internship, as well as a 7th grade math curriculum for the second semester of student
teaching. Doing so has allowed me to refresh my knowledge on the topics, understand how
to better teach them, and to know what topics these students are preparing for.

I truly believe that my experiences in the upper elementary classrooms, specifically with
mathematic curriculum, with help the future 6th graders of Vista College Prep achieve their
goals in excelling within their given academics. I am eager with anticipation and hope to
meet with you soon in regards to the position. I will contact you before the given April 15th
to further discuss my attached application. If there is a wish or need to contact me, I can be
reached quicker by phone at 602-987-6543, but am also available via email at
lex.marie.morgan@gmail.com. I am grateful for your consideration and efforts.

Sincerely,

Alexa Clarke
