ABSTRACT

Background : Baby with Low Birth Weight (LBW) is an infant that born less than
2,500 grams, regardless of gestation. LBW babies become a problem for health
workers, about one third of the world's LBWs died in the first 12 hours of birth.
This is caused by nursing care that has not been optimal, Nursing care for
development in LBW infants is called developmental care, developmental care is a
baby care that facilitates the development of the baby through environmental
management. Purpose : The purpose of this case study to illustrate the
implementation of developmental care in LBW infants. Method: This case study
uses descriptive method. The preparation of this case study took 2 babies with
LBW, the process of collecting the data are interview, direct observation, physical
examination, and making documentation study using related journals or books.
Result: Based on the result of this case study, the researcher found the
developmental care development of baby BBLR which is carried out only 4 of 7
items that is light, position and handling, touch and temperature, for the other 3
has not been implemented that is sound, smell, and stress management and Pain.
Suggestion: For the baby, it is hoped that the implementation of developmental
care can help in the development of the baby in LBW.
