Hello I am Kenny - Please.Heal.

Me of Good Fight MT NA Tera, in this guide I will be

going over how to improve your FPS, Resource Usage, and Image Quality.
Format for each section = How important is it? ~ what is in it = Gains/Losses?
Links that the following is based off of/should have open while reading (NotePad++
Optional Download https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.3.1.html)
Why you should do this?
How to do it

MUST DO ~ Bernkastels Guide - Full Screen, Field of View, Disable Mouse Smoothing,
UI SFX Sounds Off, Overclocking? = Preformance Gains
http://www.essentialmana.com/forums/#/discussion/7269/bernkastels-tera-
optimization-guide
1- Full Screen
Full Screen gives slightly better preformance(less CPU usage) over Windowed
Full Screen, but there is a 3-7 second black screen whenever you tab in or out of
Tera. Choose depending on your current CPU usage.
Log in and in Options - Video - select Full Screen or Windowed Full Screen - Click
Apply
2- Field of View and Disable Mouse Smoothing
bEnableMouseSmoothing=true makes your aim suck when your FPS is bad, false
makes it so you can still aim when your frames are low
Bindings=(Name="end",Command="fov 90") ~and~
Bindings=(Name="home",Command="fov 71") make it so you can zoom out beyond the
default zoom restriction, press "end" to zoom out and "home" to return to default
zoom. You can edit the 90 or 71 to any other value that you like.
Press Windows+E to open your File Exlporer, locate your Tera Folder, usually in
C:\Program Files (x86)\TERA ~then go to~ Client\S1Game\Config
Open S1Input.ini with NotePad or NotePad++, change bEnableMouseSmoothing=true to
bEnableMouseSmoothing=false
then Copy and Paste the two lines below, directly under it (like at 4:11)
Bindings=(Name="end",Command="fov 90")
Bindings=(Name="home",Command="fov 71")
Save. Next, in your Config Folder, Right Click S1Input.ini - Properties - click
Read Only - click Ok

3- UI SFX Sounds Off

UI SFX Sound can cause preformance issues. The only usefull sound is Effects,
the rest are just Optional Quality of Life?
Log in and in Options - Audio - turn Interface SFX to 0%.

4- Overclocking
Don't Overclock GPU. Causes crashing a lot, hard to get to be stable, can easily
cause a short GPU lifespan.
CPU Overclocking is okay if you are comfortable with taking the risk of
Overclocking. I recommend Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for Intel Overclockers,
Google a guide for the rest.

MUST DO ~ Tech Dude 99% Guide - S1Engine.ini Tweaking and Tera Shortcut Edits =
Preformance Gains
My S1Engine.ini File for - Nvidia, 2GB on board RAM, 8GB System RAM, 4 Cores CPU -
http://www.mediafire.com/file/2c1x9l3vmlbnj4v/S1Engine.ini
https://sites.google.com/site/kennyphmtera/home/reupload---easy-fix-it-guide-to-99-
of-techy-gaming-problems
https://www.diffnow.com/?report=ju42g
Increase FPS ALOT~!
Download and open my S1Engine.ini file (with NotePad or NotePad++) from the
medifire url, Ctrl+A to select everything in it, Ctrl+C to copy everything
Press Windows+E to open your File Exlporer, locate your Tera Folder, usually in
C:\Program Files (x86)\TERA ~then go to~ Client\S1Game\Config
Open your own S1Engine.ini file (with NotePad or NotePad++), Ctrl+A to select
everything in it, Ctrl+V to paste my S1Engine.ini into yours.
Google your GPU's on board RAM (google what is my GPU as well if needed), Write
that number down on a piece of paper. Repeat for your System's RAM and CPU's number
of cores.
The DiffNow site shows the difference between a fresh file (left) and mine (right).
The following are edited quotes from TechDude01 (google sites link) (the 116, 137,
ect are the line #s for each thing you may change) -

IMPORTANT NOTE: I've modified my recommendations on GPU/CPU Specific Values;
many awesome thanks on testing from Idi0ticGenius on these forums!
For laptop or systems weaker than my own, use 0.5x (half) my values. If
those aren't helpful enough, try 0.25 my values
For 1G GPU with roughly equal CPU than mine, use my values
For 2G GPU with slightly better CPU than mine, use 1.5x my values
For 3G GPU with significantly better CPU than mine, use 2x my values
Any values over 2x are NOT supported and have a very high chance of randomly
crashing TERA.
In Windows, right click the Tera Online shortcut that you use to launch the game,
then add these arguments to the end of the Target box.
My 'Target' Line looks like this; truncated for example purposes
"\TERA-Launcher.exe" -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -VSYNC -D3D11 -NOSTEAM
-UseAllAvailableCores if you have a Dual-Core or better to force TERA to use more
of your CPU cores
-Vsync if you want to force it on in the engine
-D3D11 to (hopefully) force use of DirectX 11 rendering paths if available
-No Steam to disable Steamworks if you aren't launching from Steam
If you use different game settings depending on PvP, PvE, dungeon runs, etc then
you can use the INI file command line overrides to specify an alternate path to
specific INIs then just have different shortcuts with these settings rather than
having to copy/paste/replace INI files.
PSA: Be careful if you follow what some others have
posted(http://forum.teratoday.com/topic/860-the-complete-guide-to-tera-fps-
improvement/). Test for yourself(http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-
address-aware.112556/)! There is still a great deal of outdated information about
whether you need to use the 4GB NtCore patcher on the TERA files. There is NO more
need(http://anony.ws/i/2015/05/17/LAA-TERA.png) to do this as of at least March
when it was hotfixed in during routine maintenance.

Optional ~ Optimizing inGame Video Options = Some Gain, Maybe Quality of Life Loss?
http://www.sinisterswarm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16086
Increases FPS by lowering settings that cause big problems
Below are many edited quotes from the above site
In game change this in: Options > Video > Character quality > character > all left
------------------------------"----------"----> Other > Real-time Optimization >
all left.
SETTING TO TWEAK INSIDE TERA ONLINE
Due to the fact that the game renders stuff below you, and etc. We need to lower
render distances. It wont affect almost anything, trust me. Expect increasing your
FPS...
PC View Distance - 4 (maxed if pvper)
Distant Environment Detail - 4
Landscape - 3
Efect Distance - 3 (maxed if pvper)
Background Distance - 3
Rest maxed out ( just the Distance stuff )[or lower if you want]

--Comment-- This makes TERA look a LOT better!
DO NOT USE SWEETFX, DOESN'T DO ANYTHING, MAKES GAME RUN WORSE, ADDS LOTS OF BAD
FILES TO YOUR TERA INSTALLATION

Download Nvidia Inspector, below are edited quotes

- Click the button to the Right of Driver Version
- In the Top Left "Profiles" type tera, click Tera
Make your settings look like this http://i.imgur.com/kFhM8KX.png
Antialiasing - Transparency Super Sampling - can be set to 2 4 or 8, must be the
same number as Antialiasing - Setting

Optional for Nvida Users ~ DownSampling Nvidia = Image Quality Gain, Medium GPU
Usage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzGu7XyuOhI&index=10
https://sites.google.com/site/kennyphmtera/home/guides
Makes the game look a bit nicer but uses a decent amount of GPU
Downsampling is making your CPU load a higher resolution than your screen so that
there more pixels per inch increasing graphics
You right click on your desktop to open the Nvidia Control Panel, you can use
monitoring software like MSI Afterburner to check your GPU Temperature and Usage to
see the difference that Downsampling creates
On the left under Display, go to Adjust desktop size and position, make sure you
have the right screen selected and change your settings to Scaling Mode - Aspect
Ratio + Perform scaling on - GPU Override the scaling mode by games and programs
and click apply in the bottom right
Next go under 3D Settings - Manage 3D settings and under Global settings and in DSR
- Factors check each box in the drop down then click ok, DSR - Smoothness will by
default be 33% and controls smoothness compared to sharpness of downscaled images,
afterwards make sure to click apply in the bottom right
Then under Display - Change resolution, select a Dynamic Super Resolution, any size
is fine but you should start with the largest one x4 and see how much of your GPU
it uses and if you can allocate that much to Downsampling, then click apply in the
bottom right
You will be asked if you want to save your changes or not and may lose control of
your mouse because of it, just Alt + Tab twice to be able to select yes
If you have Tera open you need to close the game and restart it to see the changes,
if you do not notice changes go into the options menu in game and under Video check
to see if your resolution is at the amount that you set it at, if not you may need
to manually select your resolution and possibly restart again
Downsampling will change your screens resolution so you may need to increase your
mouse's Dots Per Inch(DPI) so that you can move the same amount on the screen with
the same movement of the mouse as you did before
