The author, Elvira Nica, wrote an interesting journal article entitled “The importance of Human
Resources Management to the health care system.” Her objective is to identify and comprehend how
previous researchers investigated the important roles that HRM can contribute to the betterment of the
healthcare systems and to bolster the connection among healthcare employees and healthcare
professionals. Furthermore, to profound the advantages and disadvantages of human resources’ impact
on health sector reform, and how important is HRM in all aspects of healthcare systems, the author cited
some essential roles of HRM in the healthcare system whether it is a government owned or private
healthcare company, example of which is finding the equilibrium of workforce supply and the screening
of practitioners in the healthcare sector. She also added that HRM plays an important role in investing in
employee development. In addition to this, the positive impact to the healthcare industry is analyzed.

The author’s method is to gather and collect facts based on secondary sources. Thru this, she had
investigated how helpful human resources is. In lieu to this, the article would probably be stronger if she
uses primary sources like interviews, surveys, and uses statistics adopted from another scholar or
developed by herself. On the contrary her findings and researches are still strong enough because these
sources are well-researched and already published in books and articles which means it was already tried
and tested.

As a reader of her article, the legitimacy of her findings, based on her references, are good
because her article does not contradict any but she demonstrated strength on how HRM plays a vital role
in developing further the healthcare system and to the healthcare industry. Heretofore, there’s no any
logical argument nor counter-argument created but only positive insights towards HRM.

Theretofore, all evidences articles and references may not be recent but still not outdated.
Therefore, this article is an additional contribution to my knowledge about Human Resource Management
and the healthcare industry. As what the authors aiming us for.

As an employee in the health care industry, I believe that Human Resources plays a vital role in
every aspect in the healthcare industry as well as other industries. Its impact is positively strong not only
for the industry’s management system but for their end users too. Hence, the author only focuses on
strengthening the ideal and positive impact of HRM to the healthcare industry. I might have change my
mind if the author had researched further and have check other dimensions of HRM; its pros and cons
rather. We would also identify further when does HRM is applicable to add as part of the system; despite
how big or small the industry is.

I conclude therefore that HRM practices are important to any type of industry especially in the
healthcare industry. I believe that one of the measurement of an effective human resources management
can be seen on how employees treat patients with courtesy, dignity, and respect. That means that
employees are not only dedicated but rather, empowered because of an effective reward system or high
involvement and commitment in the job which is also implemented by the human resources department.
Effective collaboration about feeding the needs of employees and professionals should be met in order
for them not to leave the company. Recruiting and retaining medical practitioners and other professionals
as well as training and development, creating reward system are just some of the many visible roles of HR
which means that HRM in a healthcare industry should never be neglected even in a low income country.
