INTRO SPEECH
This is nothing but a referential speech, there are some “jokes” easier to be said by a guy than a
girl, the idea in any case is to make it fun so you don’t lose your passengers’ attention.

Hello everyone, my name is Panfilas and I am going to be your guide taking some of you to Arequipa
and some of you all the way to the border. First of all I want to thank you all for coming with Bolivia
Hop, it is because of you guys that I have a job… and I freaking LOVE my job, so thank you for that! I
also want to thank you for having visited my country, I hope you guys had a great time here, Peru is
absolutely beautiful and as a Peruvian myself I always feel happy and proud to see people coming
over to see it.
So right now we are leaving the city of Lima, I hope you guys had a good time over there, Lima is a
big city that was built in the middle of the desert, it actually is the second biggest city on a desert after
Cairo, there is about 10-11 million people living here and it’s a city that keeps on growing, Miraflores
is one of the richest neighborhoods, a square meter there costs almost the same as in Marseilles in
France, which is one of the most expensive cities in Europe, can you believe that? Now we are
approaching to another town called Chorrillos, it’s a fishermen’s town, it is also known for having
some of the best Ceviches in the Lima, they catch the fish and right there prepare it for you, over here
we will be going to a viewpoint from where you can get some of the best views of Lima, you will also
be able to see some of the craziest things about this city, for example we will be passing by one of the
most exclusive clubs in Peru, if you want to become a member here then you have to pay 50 thousand
dollars, with Peru Hop you get a 1% off just in case! But the thing is that in a couple of minutes we are
going to see a completely different reality, very poor houses that were built on the hill, kind of look
like the favelas in Brazil and the curious thing is why hasn’t anyone built a multimillion dollar set of
buildings, people in Miraflores, Barranco, Chorrillos are paying a lot of money to have this view of the
ocean, the thing is that Lima suffered a massive migration in the 60’s and then especially in the 80’s
due to terrorism, I don’t know if you knew it but Peru suffered terrorism for a long time, the main
terrorist group was called “The shining path” and they killed over 115 thousand people during the 80’s
so tons of people from the jungle and the highlands ran away and came to Lima looking for
protection, the problem is that Lima couldn’t hold those many people migrating, no jobs, no houses,
etc. so the people that migrated ended up having to “invade” the open lands and that is what
happened here, in Peru by law, if you can prove that you have been living at a certain place for 20
years then automatically that land becomes legally yours. Now we will be stopping at this view point
and you guys have between 5 to 10 minutes to take some photos, please don’t go too far and then
we will meet up here by the soldier statue so I can tell you some interesting things about Peru and
Chile, our very special friendship and explain to you why are Chileans so jealous of Peruvians, just a
joke! But yea we will meet up here, also before we go I am going to need everyone to give me their
passports and immigrations cards which is the white piece of paper you were given when entering the
country, so please get them out and leave them right there on your own seat as you come out,
thanks!

MORRO SOLAR SPEECH

Ok guys, so we are at a very important and meaningful historical place for Peruvians, basically history
goes back to the late 1800’s when a war between Peru and Chile took place, it all started in an area
called Antofagasta which is currently located in the north of Chile, before all of that area used to
belong to Bolivia and this is an important area because there is a lot of poop… bird poop! Also knows
as guano and that area is home to a huge amount and variety of birds and those birds poop a lot so
Chileans decided to collect all the guano accumulated there and sell it to other countries, now you
may ask yourself who would buy that? But actually bird poop at that moment in time had just been
discovered as one of the best fertilizers in the world so this was a huge business, now Bolivia then
figured that out and decided to put taxes on those Chileans companies, Chileans decided they weren’t
going to pay crap so Bolivians came up with the greatest idea of expropriating their companies. Now I
don’t know if you know much about Chileans but they have an “interesting” point of view as a nation,
you know a lot of countries happen to have a national shield, right? And some of them even have
some sort of a national phrase, well Chile has one that says “por la razón o la fuerza” which translated
to English kind of means “By the reason or by the force” meaning you can understand me or I’ll use
the force and make you understand me, either way I win, so when Bolivians took away their
companies, Chileans weren’t going to be like: ohhh what a pity, no, they instantly went to war. Now
the question is what does Peru have to do with all this crap? The thing is that for whatever reason
Peru and Bolivia had an underground agreement: if one goes to war, the other homie jumps in,
problem is that Bolivia didn’t stand a fight at all and before Peru could jump in Chileans had already
swept the floor with Bolivians so in reality the war was Peru against Chile. Long story short the
Peruvian campaign was a disaster and Chileans ended up getting all the way up here, the idea for
them was to come all the way to Lima and kick the President out to win the war, so it was at this place
where Peruvians tried to stop Chileans for the last time, and as a last resort a lot of civilians came out
with whatever they could find: metal bars, spades, broom sticks, anything they could find trying to
stop Chileans from entering the city, the battle took two days and Chileans won that battle, as they
were coming into the city they were burning everything and killing everyone, luckily for us there was
an admiral from France who had really good relations with Peruvians and he intervened and spoke to
the general in charge of the Chilean campaign and asked him to stop the killings, that there was no
need for that, the Chilean general said to the French admiral that this wasn’t his war, the French guy
said ok but if any of my crew members who are now in Lima get a simple scratch then France will go
to war against Chile, obviously Chile didn’t need to think that twice and so they got into the city
peacefully and smiling. Now if you guys can see on that plate you have the names of the generals,
lieutenants, colonels, etc and in the end you can see it says soldiers dead 6000, there are no names
there because as I mentioned a lot of civilians decided to come and help as a last resort but none of
them were enrolled in the army so therefore no one knew their names, that’s why this statue over here
is known as the “unknown soldier” and it was built in commemoration to those who gave their lives
for the cause. Now as a result of the war Peru lost two areas in the south: Arica and Tacna, Tacna
eventually became part of Peru again, after a long time of negotiations but Arica still remains Chilean.
Ever since then Peruvians and Chileans are known for having this “special” friendship, one of the cases
in which you can see how much we love each other is when there is a football match!!! For example
Peru hasn’t been to the world cup in a long time and we are not going to make it any time soon, we
just don’t have that talent so that’s ok, but when we play Chile??? That’s a game you don’t lose,
period! We don’t really care if we don’t make it to the world cup, you just don’t lose to Chile… which is
a little frustrating because they have a good team and we don’t. Another clear case is Pisco, Pisco
happens to be Peru’s national drink and it’s a spirit, just like Mexico’s got Tequila, Peru has Pisco, now
Chileans also have their own Pisco and claim Pisco comes from Chile, which is obviously wrong
because it’s Peruvian, point is both countries claim it and it became so serious they both took this
issue to an international court! That serious!! Then after two years the international court said it was
Peruvian according to all the foundations given by both countries, one of the many reasons was that
Peru has a massive area called… Pisco, it’s really big and the name has been there for ages, since Incan
times, Chile claimed they also have a place called Pisco, it’s a small town and in the records it shows
that they actually changed the name to Pisco about 100 years ago. So yea be careful about taking
taxis and telling the driver Pisco is Chilean, they will KILL you!!
On the other hand, do you guys see that Christ over there? Yea? Well he is known as the Christ of the
Pacific and it was a present by a former president called Alan Garcia, he was one of the worst
presidents, his government from 1985 to 1990 was a complete disaster and left Peru with an inflation
of over 3000%, he ran away and lived in Paris as a political refugee then came back in the 2000’s and
guess what? He won the presidential elections again from 2006 to 2011, if you thought politics in your
country were a joke, in Peru is a constant circus!! Anyways before he finished his second presidency
though he built this statue and gave it as a “personal” present to the Peruvian people, it was initially
supposed to be as big as the one in Rio do Janeiro but half way through he realized it was going to
cost more money than initially planned so they made it smaller, if you pay attention his legs and arms
don’t match at all, an absolute joke! Plus a lot of people weren’t too happy because he could have
given a different present that represent all Peruvians and not just Catholics. Alright guys now we are
going to get back on the bus and we will be on our way to Pachacamac, this pre-Incan ruins situated
right outside Lima and then after that we will stop to have some traditional Peruvian breakfast!!

8:00 am Bus Leaves Morro Solar (Marca Perú): * Send passports pictures.
8:00 am – 8:35 am Bus out of Lima:
* PH introduction
 Hop – System (How it works)

 Welcome packs and timetables

 Extra activities and accommodation

 Hop Offs

 Bus rules: seatbelts, alcohol and toilets

* Collect outstanding payments.

* Distribute “Timetables” and wristbands.
(Emphasise the importance of download the complete “welcome
pack” for their whole trip from their booking confirmation e-
mail).
BUS RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Now there is something very important that all of you need to know, there is a toilet on the
bus and that toilet is just for number 1, alright? no number 2,3,4 whatever you freaks are into..
please don’t do it there, I do understand situations, people can have emergencies, if you do find
yourself in a situation where you have an emergency going on, then you can always come over here
to “my 24/7 office”, if I’m sleeping then just tap me in the shoulder… Hey duuude/giiirl.. it’s coming
ouuut.. please help meee! Trust me, I will do anything I can to help you out, you got my word on that
but please leave the toilet alone for number 1 only, and don't you worry, I will NOT tell anyone, it'll be
our secret! Now I also need to inform you that by law the consumption of alcohol is not allowed on
the bus, I always feel this sadness deep inside my heart every time I announce this but it is the law
guys so please follow it alright? also I'm going to need every single passenger to wear the seatbelts
provided, sorry but this is the law and I could get in lots of trouble if this is not followed, so please
have them on, thanks so much everyone for being understanding.
Now travelling with Peru Hop is very easy, if you want to hop off either in Paracas, Huacachina or any
of the other destinations then all you need to do is let your tour guide know and sign our hop off
sheet, with that we will put you on hold and then whenever you’re ready to continue all you will need
to do is log into the website with your ID and book your next bus, your ticket is worth for a whole year
so you can take as long as you want, very simple.
Also if you haven’t booked anything yet then do not worry, we will be helping you with booking of
accommodation at every location, we have some pretty good deals with hostels and work with what
we know are the best tour agents at each location so you don’t really need to book anything in
advance because we are here to help you and give you our recommendations, you can check them
out on the website, the only place where you will need to book in advance is Cusco though, the
reason is because Cusco is very touristy and all the good places are quickly taken so for Cusco please
make sure you have something already booked before you get on the bus on your way there.
(depending on the season we may need to encourage early bookings for Arequipa as well but try to
recommend passengers to book with any of our partners there).
Now, the next thing is very very simple, just a recommendation that we should always be on time, if
we ever tell you for example that we will be leaving at 1:00 pm then it obviously means that you need
to show up 10 minutes ahead... 12:50, so we can have enough time to pass the lists and make sure
everyone is on the bus and ready to go, we don’t start meeting up at 1:00 pm, at 1:00 we are already
leaving to the next location, we can’t the bus for people so please be there at the time mentioned or
we may have to leave without you... ESPECIALLY when you need to take the bus from Arequipa!
I am going to pass by your seats and give you your welcome packs, there is a lot of important
information there for you regarding tours at each location, accommodation and discounts and your
bus itinerary so you can this information on paper and plan your own trip. I will also be giving you a
wristband, this is very very important for you to wear at all times, the reason is because is an easy way
for tour guides to figure out who belongs to the group and who doesn’t, especially if you are going to
hop off so please wear it at all times.

(Once you’ve finished passing around the welcome packs and wristbands) Hey guys, so I’m going to
ask you one last thing before I stop bothering you, I am going to need your passports and your
immigrations cards, which is the white piece of paper you may have been given at the moment you
entered the country, all I need to do is take a photo and send it to our main office, the reason is
because we need to prove to the Peruvian authorities that every passenger we take on our buses is
legally travelling around the country, which is why the white piece of paper is also very important,
once I finish I will be returning them back to you all personally, so please have them handy so I can
collect them quickly, thanks.

PACHACAMAC
8:40 am – 8:45 am Stop at Pachacamac:
* Speech of Pachacamac pre – Inca temple.

Ok guys so we are now approaching to Pachacamac. Pachacamac is these pre-Incan ruins that were
inhabited by four different civilizations: The Lima, Wari, Ichtma and Inca cultures. Now Pachacamac
used to be a ceremonial centre, meaning that different civilizations would come here to worship
Pachacamac, whose name in the ancient language meant “The lord of everything” or “lord of the
earth” and it was believed that Pachacamac controlled the earth and could make it shake with just the
movement of his head. I don’t know if you knew but all of this area suffer of constant earth shakes and
earthquakes so a lot of people in the past believed that whenever there was an earthquake in their
areas is because Pachacamac was not pleased with them so they would send a pilgrim here to this
ceremonial centre to present offerings to Pachacamac to keep him “happy”. Every civilization that
inhabited this place left something characteristic of them, for example the Incans made of this their
main operations centre in the coast and it’s where they built their “Temple of the Moon” or in
Quechua which is their native language, their Acllahuasi, this is where they would bring girls at a
young age and prepare them to one day be one of the wives of the Inca, they would be taught how to
cook, sew and many other activities according to that culture in those days, they were supposed to be
virgins and if a man was chosen to be one of the guardians of the Acllahuasi then he had to be
castrated!! And there are a lot of other interesting things to see over here, a normal tour to this place
costs $30 but we still wanted you to at least see it and hear about this important place in the past,
now we are on our way to breakfast, in a few minutes I will be explaining about this breakfast place
and how it all works.

8:45 am – 9:30 am On the way of breakfast stop:

* Give the “breakfast speech” and handle the menus in the bus to help pax with their choice at breakfast
place.
9:30 am – 10:00 am Breakfast stop in Tambo Rural km 57:
* Help pax if they need at the restaurant to do it quicker (just 30 minuts stop).

10:00 am – 12:00 am Bus to Chincha:

* Straight after breakfast stop ask passenger’s hostel information and send it to the office BEFORE
11am.
* Play short clips at the bus for around 30 minuts and let people rest if they want.
* Play games in the bus to make people interact in between them.
SPEECH OF CHINCHA

ON THE WAY TO THE SLAVE TUNNELS

10:00 am – 12:00 am Bus to Chincha:

Passing by the city let people know about region background and importance (Panamerican highway
conditions, unfinished houses, cat joke, earthquakes, etc.).

- Remind passengers about wearing their seatbelts.

- Talk about accommodation in Paracas and the three different options we have over there,
mentioning their pros and cons. As always tell passengers to check their welcome packs for
more details.
- When approaching to Chincha talk about the area covering the following points:
Crazy Panamericana “highway” with traffic lights, vendors, moto taxis, etc.
“Unfinished” houses so owners can avoid paying taxes.
2007’s earthquake hitting the 8.1 Richter’s scale but Alan Garcia (former president) declaring it
as only 7.9 so the government wouldn’t have to pay for the reconstruction of the area,
mention the difference between mudbrick and concrete houses (one doesn’t look nice but
holds up, the other looks nice but doesn’t).
Also mention the “fact” that people in Chincha are known for eating cats.
Finally as the bus turns in direction to El Carmen mention the fact that we are going away
from the main highway and entering the country side and talk a bit about it.

HACIENDA SAN JOSÉ

CHINCHA

12:00 am – 12:45 pm Hacienda San José Tour:

18:45 pm – 19:45 (On the way back to Lima)
* Make tour in the house putting emphasis in tunnels, main reason and importance. (Suggested time for
the whole tour 45 min to don’t delay bus)

Slave Tunnels

There are seven main topics you want to cover during this tour:

- Entrance – Introduction:
Talk about the beginning of the Hacienda, goods being produced there, the family, end of the
linage, current hotel and the structures (original painting, fallen arcs, etc).

- Living Room:
The main focus here is the painting of the house that was painted by one of the slaves
(curious fact: former owners were actually nice to the slaves and that is why activities such
painting were encouraged if the talent was there, last owner not so nice and ended up costing
him his life), show the until then existing arcs at the sides of the house, and go through the
different activities represented in the painting, Festejo dance being one of them.

- Central Patio:
Main topic here is the architecture of the house having some Arabic influence due to the
south of Spain having being invaded by them for about 800 years, one clear example is the
before existing fountain in the middle that represented an oasis, also talk about the two
separated rooms used for men and women separately. Mention the fact that all of that area is
a replica since everything got destroyed in 2007. Also mention that every weekend the family
has a buffet with the traditional music and dance.

- Main Garden:
Talk about the two main celebrations a year they have in that area, one being the New Year’s
and the other being on the 31 st of October which for Peruvians is the day of the Criolla music,
explain what Criollo means and what is that type of music based on. You can also mention the
place is sometimes rented for high class weddings and fashion runaways.

- Inside the tunnels:

At the water storage talk about the purpose of the tunnels having being built and history.
Also mention the original wall and how it was made.
At the selection room talk about how slaves used to be examined with some horrible tests to
determine whether or not a slave could be considered of “good breed”. Shortest slaves’
height was 1.80 mts. and tallest was 2.16 mts. “Best” slaves would stay at hacienda San Jose
and the rest would be sold to the other four haciendas San Jose was connected to.

- Punishment room:
Talk about the reasons why slaves would be taken there, the whippings and final punishment
making mention that no one ever survived.

- Church:
Point out items found around, then focus on the altar made out of three big pieces with wood
that was brought from Central America, finally show the secret door leading to the tunnels in
case the family needed to scape.

- Two quick stops:

The machinery (between the patio and garden) and the tools (between garden and kitchen
area) rooms.

* Confirm meeting point and hours for next day tours:

1° Ballestas - 7:45 am at Hotel Frayles reception.
2° Natural Reserve - 10:45 am at Hotel Frayles reception.
* Remind pax double check their seats before they leave the bus.

PARACAS
BALLESTAS ISLANDS TOUR

13:00 pm – 14:00 pm Bus to Paracas:

18:15 pm – 18:30 pm (On the way back to Lima)
* Give info about Ballestas Island’s tour
* Sign-up sheet for Ballestas.
* Give info about Paracas (extra activities there, money and ATM’s issues, etc.)
* Recommend people take as much cash as possible!
* Confirm Hop Offs inform dead line for changes.

Ok guys, so we are on our way to Paracas. Paracas happens to be the second most visited place in
Peru after Cusco, one of the reasons is because it’s really close to Lima and so a lot of people come
here to spend the weekend, Paracas is a beach town and also a fishermen’s town so fish and seafood
here are really really good, especially for the ones looking for a good Ceviche or Arroz con Mariscos!!,
now for the lucky ones spending a night there you can find a lot of different activities to keep you
busy there, but whether you’re staying there or not the main activity to do is by far the Ballestas
islands, also known as “the poor man’s Galapagos”, this is a boat tour, you go for about 30-40 minutes
into the ocean and then find these rocky islands in the middle of nowhere that have been shaped by
the wind and the waves, very pretty, over there you will see tons of birds, lots of sea lions living in
their own habitat, Penguins! Who knows what the heck penguins are doing in Peru? BUT you will have
the chance to see them there and if you get lucky you may see some dolphins, really beautiful. Please
check your welcome packs if you need any more details, the tour basically costs either 50 soles or 15
USD and the boat trip is going to be from 8 to 10 am and then at 11 am we will be going to the
Paracas National Reserve, so please check it and soon I will be passing by your seats if you need any
help booking. Also if you have already booked for this activity online then you do not need to write
your name on the list! Let me know if you have any questions!

ARRIVING TO PARACAS!

13:45pm – 14:00pm
19:45 pm – 20:00pm (On the way back to Lima)
* Entering to Paracas show from the bus different hostels to the passengers while the bus make a a “U”
turn until it stops at Frayles Hotel.
* Assist Hop On’s Paracas to Huacachina (Pax can wait while using Wi-Fi at Frayles Hotel).
* Assist with Check in at hostel.

Alright guys so we are arriving to Paracas now, so as I mentioned before Paracas is a very cool place
with tons of activities to do if you decide to stay for a few days, there’s quadbikes, paddle boarding,
kayaks around the bay, kitesurfing, paragliding, wakeboarding and there is a brand new cable park
where you can take your first steps into wakeboarding or kitesurfing, it’s super fun. Some places we
would recommend to eat: for lunch definitely the Paracas restaurant, this is the best restaurant in
town, it’s on a fourth floor terrace and the view from there to the bay is really nice, prices there are not
cheap so when you go there make sure that you show them your Peru Hop wristband so they can give
you their Peru Hop hidden menu and access to our special deals. For the evening I would recommend
a place called Misky, one of the best pizzas in South America right here in Paracas, it’s artisanal pizza
baked on an artisanal oven, they have vegetarian options and the atmosphere is really chilled and
cool, then for breakfast I would recommend Fruzion, by far the best milkshakes and smoothies in
Paracas, pancakes!! And if you’ve been missing some good coffee and you came to South America
thinking you would find good coffee and you haven’t then go to Fruzion, they know how it’s done!

Now something very important that you need to know is that there are no ATM’s or cash points in
Huacachina, therefore you need to make sure that you leave Paracas with enough cash not only for
your stay in Huacachina but also for what you may plan to do in Arequipa, as you know if you want to
book for an activity you will need to pay on the bus in cash so if you are planning on doing the Colca
canyon in Arequipa then please make sure you will have to cash for that, there is a BCP ATM here that
we recommend, there have been issues before with the Globalnet ones so we recommend you use the
BCP over here.

Also the meeting point here in Paracas is going to be Frayles Hotel, this is your meeting point for
everything and anything you do with us, Ballestas Islands, the National Reserve, for taking the bus to
your next destination, etc. For the ones doing the Ballestas Islands tomorrow the meeting time will be
at 7:45 am, please be punctual, I don’t want to hear at that time “hey can I brush my teeth?” no, at that
time you are up and ready to go, your trip is going to be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, then you will have
about 45-50 minutes to check out from your hostel, eat breakfast, walk around, depends on you and
then at 10:45-10:50 we will meet together at Frayles Hotel to go to the Paracas National Reserve, this
is a free activity included in your Peru Hop ticket so everyone is welcome to come and enjoy of the
Reserve. Tomorrow I will be giving you some more information regarding the rest of the day. (Then
you show them where everything is located and advise passengers to triple check they are not leaving
anything behind).

14:00 pm – 15:00 pm Final reporting to the office:

* Send outstanding info to the office: Ballestas sign-up sheet, missing passports, confirmed Hop Offs, any
incident or feedback reporting, etc.

END OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE DAY.

* During the tour pass around the signup sheet for accommodation and hop off as quickly as possible and
send it to the office.

14:00 pm – 16:00 pm (On the way back to Lima)

Hey guys, so we are on our way to the Paracas National Reserve, we are going to be hitting a couple
of spots and I will be explaining a little bit of each spot five minutes before we get there but as a
whole this place is a national reserve due to the huge amount of wild animal life living in this area,
obviously not here on the ground but in the sea, basically there is a phenomenon of currents that
bring all the nutrients and food from the bottom of the ocean to the surface and because of that
there is a huge variety of animal life in the sea which allows also a huge variety of animal life in the air
since birds feed themselves off fishes, also Paracas is also very interesting because there are actually
three different current landing here, one from the South, one from the North and one coming from
Asia, so you can see that biodiversity in this area really is huge.

But the reason why we do this tour on the ground is because basically all of this area, from Paracas all
the way down to Atacama in Chile used to be under the sea millions of years ago and because of that
the soil over here is different, it has minerals from the ocean which creates all these different layers,
some places are reddish, yellowish, grayish, deserts are usually monochromatic, only one color, but
this one has all different colors, also Paracas in the ancient language means “rain of sand” or also
translated as sandstorm, so basically this area is very windy, so the wind and the waves have been
shaping the shores throughout the years and it looks very pretty.

Now remember I mentioned yesterday that in Peru there are tons of different cultures and civilizations
all over? Well there was one that lived here in Paracas and it is known as the Paracas culture, the
Paracas were known for being amazing surgeons, in the past they had this belief that if you were very
ill is because there was a demon inside your head, so what they would do is perform a head surgery
making a hole in your skull to let the demon out, all of this without anesthesia, can you believe it??
And sure there was some people who didn’t make it but in the vast majority everyone would survive
and be well afterwards, so yea they actually were pretty good surgeons. They were also known for
their mantles, you know nowadays when you buy a piece of clothing eventually it will wear off, that’s
what happens, no matter how expensive that piece of clothing is but the curious thing about the
Paracas is that they made this mantles, very beautiful ones by the way, and the coloring they used in
those hasn’t worn off, it’s been over 2000 years and their colors are still intact, up to this day scientists
are still trying to figure out what is it they used that the colors would not wear off, massive mystery!
Lastly they were also known for being one of the very few civilizations in history of humanity to have
had elongated skulls, if you see them, they look alien-like, very interesting.

So far there is one official stop at the Reserve (Playa Roja) until they finish working on the roads, then
it’ll also be The Cathedral ***

Ok guys, so we are approaching to the Playa Roja, in case there is someone who doesn’t speak any …
Spanish…at all… it stands for Red Beach. So basically millions of years ago there used to be a volcano
deep in the ocean and when this erupted it left a lot of solidified lava all around the area, and so the
when the waves hit this areas with solidified lava, it drags all the left overs and bring them to this
particular shore, and the sand mixed with the solidified lava creates this appearance of being red.
What I like about this stop is the contrast of colors that you can have in one picture, like for example
today the sky is (blue, gray, etc), the ocean is (blue, green), and the red of the sand plus the yellow of
the top ground, all together in one picture is really really cool.

HUACACHINA
DUNE BUGGY AND SANDBOARDING ACTIVITIES

12:50 am – 13:00 pm “Pick up” and bus departs to Huacachina:

* Pick up of pax in Paracas, pax that are “transport only” to Huacachina or pax that did the Ballestas at
10am.
13:00 pm – 14:30 pm Bus from Paracas to Huacachina:
16:00 pm – 18:30 pm (On the way back to Lima)
* Give the Sandboarding speech and receive payment from the pax interested in the tour and send the list
to the office as quick as possible.

Alright guys, we are now on our way to Huacachina!!! Huacachina is this OASIS in the middle of the
desert, surrounded by a tiny little town, only 96 people living there! And this little town is surrounded
by MOUNTAINS of sand, really beautiful!, the views there are stunning. And the main activity to do
over there is the Dune Buggy and sandboarding! The sandboarding is great but the dune buggy is
definitely the highlight of the tour, for a lot of people THIS IS the very best moment of their trip, if you
did dune bugging before then you know it is usually done on a 4x4 (four by four) or a Jeep, and those
can do the job… but they are certainly not built specifically for dune bugging, in Huacachina the dune
buggies are specifically customized for that, the engines, tires, everything! They look like Mad Max
kind of thing, really cool, trust me, this is the one activity on the whole Peru Hop you don’t want to
miss, you will be old and you will never ever forget about that day, guaranteed!! So in a few minutes I
will be passing by your seats in case you guys want to book this activity, in the meantime please check
your welcome packs for any more details. Also if you have already booked for this activity online then
you do not need to write your name on the list! Let me know if you have any questions!

Ask if there’s anyone who will be hopping off, if so then ask them to sign the hop off sheet.

REFERENTIAL NAZCA LINES SPEECH

BRIEF SPEECH

13:00 pm – 14:30 pm Bus from Paracas to Huacachina:

16:00 pm – 18:30 pm (On the way back to Lima)

Hey guys, so I have some important information for you, have any of you ever heard of the mysterious
Nazca Lines? Well if you haven’t then let me tell you they happen to be one of the most mysterious
places in Peru, if not the most mysterious one, basically the Nazca lines are these drawings on the
ground in the middle of the desert and usually if you make a drawing on the ground… 2 weeks after it
will be gone but these Nazcas somehow managed to make these drawings that have been there for
over 2000 years and they haven’t disappeared!! There is no one who maintain them ‘cause otherwise
then what’s so cool about them anymore but those have been there for ages! There are some theories
but no one really knows HOW did the Nazcas managed to do that, a lot of people even believe it was
aliens involved! so if you want you can have the chance to do the flight there and see several of them,
specially the famous ones like the monkey, the spider, the condor, the astronaut, if you need any help
booking for this flight and info about how you can get there and stuff then a tour guide will be having
a meeting at 6:45 pm at Casa de Arenas, just look for one of our representatives there and he/she will
be assisting you with everything you may need for it, now remember this is not mandatory, it’s only
for the people who are interested in doing the flight to see them properly, we also have a free activity
where you will be seeing two of the Nazca lines for free, not the famous ones but still the Nazca lines.
If you are any interested about the flight then please check your welcome packs to get some more
details.

ARRIVING TO HUACACHINA!

14:30 pm – 15:00 pm Arrival to Huacachina:

16:00 pm – 18:30 pm (On the way back to Lima)
* Give quick info about Huacachina, places to eat and help with “Check in” at hostels.

Hey guys, so we will soon be arriving to Huacachina, right now we are in Ica, Ica is the nearest city to
Huacachina, almost 1 million people living here, what’s crazy is that as you can see this place looks like
a regular city but in 10 minutes you will see how it all dramatically changes, we will be in the middle of
the desert! Now everyone please pay attention to the following recommendations for the dune
bugging and Sandboarding, there are 6 things you need to bring:

1. Cheap sunglasses to keep the sand off your eyes,

2. Sun screen, very important, the sun is very strong up there in the dunes,

3. Water, make sure you bring a small bottle of water with you, but small not the big ones,

4. Leggings for the girls, unless they want to exfoliate fair enough, for guys some loose shorts.

5. Bring your cameras but make sure they are not the ones that have lenses because sand will get in
and screw them, cellphones are fine,

6. Sport shoes very much advisable for this activity.

Now in the evening what I like to do with my passengers is do some extra activities so the group gets
to hang out together and have a good time so in the evening Casa de Arena will be having a BBQ, it’s
basically a big piece of chicken, really tasty, a hamburger, really good, a sausage… but Peruvian
sausage not the greatest so that one you may want to skip.. but the chicken and the hamburger are
very good, then the salad bar is all you can eat, there’s pasta, avocado, broccoli, etc. the drinks are all
you can drink for an hour, there is a Pisco, Rum and Vodka option, the cost is 35 soles if you show
them your Peru Hop wristband. We will be meeting at 8pm in Casa de Arenas, the BBQ is not there
but we will meet at 8 and go together to where the BBQ is, to sign for it you need to go to Casa de
Arena and sign up at the bar.

We are getting closer to Huacachina, the scenery is changing, now let me tell you a cool story about
Huacachina, Huacachina comes from the Quechua ancient language, Huaca means to cry and China
means woman, so all together the crying woman. The Oasis has been formed from some underground
currents and the water’s color is emerald green, it was around the mid 1900’s that this place became
famous because its waters had healing properties, nowadays people prefer to take boat rides. Now, its
name “the crying woman” comes from the legend of an Incan princess who soon after she got married
her husband had to go to war and he passed away, when the girl found out about it she fell into deep
sadness and went to cry the death of her beloved one at the very same place they met, her infinite
tears were the ones that formed the lagoon, and eventually the princess turned into a mermaid
according to the locals, which is why you will see the statue of a mermaid if you walk around the oasis,
they say at night you can still hear her weeping.

Ok guys we are now in Huacachina, the scenery totally changed, please start collecting all your
belongings and make sure you triple check, we are all going to go to our meeting point Casa de
Arenas and then we will take you to your hostels, for the dune bugging and Sandboarding you will
need to meet me 10 minutes before 4pm at Casa de Arenas so I can give you some recommendations
regarding the Sandboarding and how to do it safely.

15:00 pm – 16:00 pm Lunch:

* Recommend light food to avoid problems during the tour.

16:00 pm – 16:10 pm Help with departure of Buggys:

* Make sure that the pax are on time and they have everything
they need to start the tour.
16:10 pm – 18:00 pm Tour Buggy y Sandboarding:
* Free Time for the guide.
18:30 pm – 19:00 pm Meeting with pax that want to do the Nasca Flight:
* Take down names of the pax interested in the Flight and
receive payment of the private transport to Nasca if is required.
* Get Arequipa info of those who are going to take the flight.
19:30 pm Present final report to the office about the confirmed Nasca Flights:
* Inform the office about the number of pax that signed up for
the Flight, deposits paid and info about the accommodation and
Colca tour in Arequipa.
END OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE DAY

ON THE WAY TO EL CATADOR / COLCA CANYON

DAY 3

6:00 am – 12:00 am Free Time for the Guide:

* Take advantage of having breakfast and lunch early before the start of activities.
12:00 am “Check out” of hostels:
* Make sure all pax that travel in the afternoon do “check out” on time (is not obligatory).
12:00 am – 13:00 pm Lunch:
* Both for passengers and the guide.
13:00 pm – 13:15 pm Collect group and get them ready for the vineyard tour:
* Put bags/suitcases on the bus for the pax that left this morning to do the Flight and are
continuing to Arequipa/Cusco.
* Prepare the group for the tour and bring them with their things into the bus.

13:15 pm – 13:45 pm Bus to the Pisco Vineyard Tour:

* In the bus give an introduction about the Pisco Vineyard Tour, the ride will take approx. 30mins.
* Start speech about Arequipa: Colca Tour and accommodation.
13:15 pm – 13:45 pm (Same time on the way back to Lima)

Alright guys, so we are now going to the vineyard, we will be learning about Pisco, in case you hadn’t
heard it before Pisco is Peru’s national drink, it’s a spirit and just like Mexico’s got Tequila, Peru has
Pisco and so we are going to learn about the history, processes and will also have the chance to taste
some! Now in the meantime I want you to start thinking about two things, one your accommodation
in Arequipa and two the Colca canyon activity.

So after the vineyard we will be on our way to Nazca and then eventually on our way to Arequipa.
Arequipa happens to be for most people the most beautiful city in Peru, the architecture is absolutely
different to anything else you will find in this country, also the city has been built with this volcanic
rock that looks white and because of that Arequipa is known as the white city, very pretty, it is also
surrounded by three volcanos and the food is fantastic! (After you give your recommendations for
hostels…) There are also many activities you can do over there but the main activity to do over there is
the Colca Canyon! The Colca Canyon happens to be the second deepest canyon in the world, have
you heard of the Grand Canyon in the States? Well this one is twice as deep!! We have two options for
you, one is the tour in which you will be going on a van and will give you the chance to see the
canyon, also if you get lucky you may see the Andean condor… the Andean condor is basically the
biggest flying bird in the world, their wing span is of THREE METERS, it’s huge! This tour is perfect for
people who don’t have much time but still want to see as much as they can, and trust me Peru is the
perfect country for that. Now if you have time then I highly recommend the treks over this canyon, the
2d1n trek is great for people who love challenges and the 3d2n trek is great for people who want to
spend some time around nature, meditate about life, do some yoga or all the above ☺. If you have
never trekked a canyon before then this is your chance, the canyon is beautiful, with the river in
between, small waterfalls, trees everywhere! also in my opinion, as a traveller myself, the prices are
crazy cheap for being the second deepest canyon in the world, having a tour guide at all times, some
meals and accommodation included, crazy. So I am going to need all of you to start thinking about
these two things (hostel and activity), check the dates and everything because I will be gathering this
information when we leave the vineyard and it’s very important that I can collect that info in a quickly
manner so please start checking your welcome packs for more details, thanks a lot! Also if you have
already booked for the Colca canyon online then you do not need to write your name on the list later
on! Let me know if you have any questions!
(3 minutes before getting to El Catador)

Ok guys, so we are now approaching to the vineyard El Catador, this is a 150 years old vineyard that
belongs to a family that has lived in this area for ages and kept the tradition of the Pisco and wine
making, we are going to have the chance to visit it and learn about this tradition with a local expert
who will explain all the processes and history, finally we will be able to sit down and taste some,
especially the Pisco cream, very nice! Now you guys can leave your stuff on the bus, the bus is going
to be locked and you can bring your cameras to take some pictures, wallets in case you want to buy
some souvenirs or some bottles to take home and you may want to put some sun screen on.

13:45 pm – 14:45 pm Pisco Vineyard Tour at “El Catador”:

* The Pisco Vineyard Tour is conducted by a local guide of the vineyard.

15:00 pm – 17:30 pm Bus to Nasca:

* Finish receiving info on accommodation, tours and “hop ons” for Arequipa, make sure all info is
complete and send to the office no later than 4pm.
* During this part of the trip play some short videos.
* Pass around the menu for dinner in Nasca and call the restaurant to give them the group’s orders.
* Answer questions and solve any problems pax may have in relation to Colca Tours, times, cancelation
policies and description of the tours.

NAZCA TOWER

17:15pm - (* 15 minutes before arriving to the Nasca Lines, give speech about the Nasca Lines through the
microphone to the whole group.)
15:35pm – (On the way back to Lima)

THINGS YOU CAN MENTION

17:30 pm – 17:40 pm Stop at the Nasca Tower:

15:50 pm – 16:00 pm (On the way back to Lima)

* Guided visit for 10 mins to inform about the sighting of the lines from the Tower and photos.
17:40 pm – 18:00 pm Bus to the Restaurant in Nasca (Grifo Wari):
* Approx. 20 minutes from the Tower to the restaurant, call the restaurant to again to inform arrival
time.

17:40 pm – 18:00 pm Bus to the Restaurant in Nasca (Grifo Wari):

* Approx 20 minutes from the Tower to the restaurant, call the restaurant to again to inform arrival time.
18:00 pm – 18:45pm Dinner at the restaurant in Nasca:
* Stop is approximately 45 minutes for dinner, during this time you will receive updated info on “hop
ons” in Arequipa by the office.
* Before leaving, speak to the drivers about the drop off and pick up plan in Arequipa.
19:00 pm – 19:10 pm Bus to Mom’s Café meeting place in Nasca:
* Pick up of pax that did the Nasca Flight and confirm their accommodation in Arequipa and possible
tours if they did not confirm earlier (just confirm not book).

4:40 am – 5:15 am “Drop offs in Arequipa”:

* Drop offs of the group from the previous day at Arequipa hostels.
5:15 am – 5:45 am “Pickups” in Arequipa:
* Pickups of the group that go to Puno and Cusco from Arequipa hostels.
* Confirm with the office if there were any “no shows” or “extra pax” during “pickups”.
* Once with the whole group give a brief welcoming “speech” and explain the plan for the day to
everyone. (Try don’t disturb if there is Get to Cusco quick pax sleeping).

PUNO RECOMMENDATIONS

(Right after you pick people up from Nazca)

19:10 pm – 4:40 am Bus to Arequipa.

* Right after the group is complete, resolve all outstanding questions regarding the tours and the next
morning in Arequipa.
* Give a Titicaca lake speech.

Ok guys, so the next time you take the bus from Arequipa to your next destination is probably going
to be a bus that goes to both Puno and Cusco. Puno people will be driving until around 11 am
approximately reaching an area called Juliaca, over there they will be swapping onto a van that’s
provided by Peru Hop and from there you will be travelling to Puno which is one hour away
approximately and the Cusco people will stay on the bus and continue their trip. That is just to explain
how things work so you don’t have any confusion as to where is that bus going.
Now for the lucky ones going in Puno the main activity to do there is the Uros floating islands tour at
the Titicaca Lake, as you should already know the Titicaca Lake is the highest navigable lake in the
world! And over there you will have the chance to see this man made floating islands, really crazy,
when you jump off the boat onto these artificial islands is really weird, it feels like as if you were
walking on some kind of an air mattress, very cool, this tour is for 2 hours and you will learn about the
history and how they managed to build them, we have other tours also such as the full day, on this
one you will be doing the floating islands tour for about two hours also and then go to another island
called Taquile for the rest of the day, the landscape here is beautiful, the lake? Looks like a mirror! And
we also have the homestay tour, where you go to both of those islands plus a third one called
Amantani, this tour is perfect for people who want to practice their Español and would like to
experience what it’s like to live like a local in the altiplano, please check your welcome packs so that
the next time you get on the bus you have a clear idea of what you will want to do there and make
things easier for the next tour guide when he or she needs to gather that information.

* Give a brief farewell “speech” and remind the pax to be on time when they next “hop on” the bus for
the route Puno - Cusco.
* Finally confirm with drivers the drop off and pickup plan for Arequipa in the morning just in case there
are any extras or changes in the previous plan.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INTRO FOR LIMA FAREWELL

Hey everyone, soon we will be arriving to Lima so I would like to use this time to give you all some
information and tips about this city. Lima is actually the second biggest city on a desert in the world,
behind Cairo in Egypt, there’s about 10 million people living here, a third of the whole population of
Peru lives here and it’s very well known for its food, eating in Lima is the main activity to do and you
should do it as much as you can. The best restaurant in Lima is top 4 in the world, the second best is
top 14th, third best top 30th and so on, my recommendation would be for you to go to a Criolla buffet,
that way you can try many different Peruvian dishes in one go, also you should not leave Lima without
trying “La Lucha”, a very traditional sandwich place, known for curing hangovers and making people
happy! If you’re on a budget and staying in Miraflores then go to Berlin Street, there are a few set
menu places for a good price. Do the free walking tour so you get to see the historical center of Lima,
if you have the chance you should also visit Barranco, which is the bohemian district in Lima.
Whenever you require taking a taxi, especially when going to the airport then talk to reception at your
hostel and ask them to call for one, it will cost you 5-10 more soles but trust me you don’t want to risk
your belongings for saving 10 soles. I am now going to pass by your seats and give you all a map of
Miraflores and Barranco with your hostel being highlighted there, the Peru Hop office will also be
highlighted so you guys can come around and give us some feedback about your trip, it is the only
way we can grow and we aim to get better and better, also if you did the trip with us coming from
Cusco all the way to Lima and you want to get an official Peru Hop t-shirt for free then all you need to
do is come to the office in Lima and tell us a joke, then they’ll check your name on the system and you
will get a t-shirt of your choice, easy as that, let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy
to answer.

Now regarding activities, I would highly recommend findlocaltrips.com… findlocaltrips.com, you can
basically search for activities and it will not only list different activities you can do but also different
tour operators, that way you can compare prices, check other travellers’ feedback on their service, etc.
It’s a pretty good independent website and the good thing is that you don’t need to haggle around,
that would be my tip for who you should book you activities with, basically you check, compare and
you decide. (Then connect with the farewell speech).
INTRO FOR CUSCO FAREWELL

Hey everyone, soon we will be arriving to Cusco, Cusco is a millenary city, former home and capitol of
the Incan empire, considered by the Incans as “the centre of the world”, a beautiful city that has
gorgeous churches, plazas, palaces and museums. Places you should definitely visit: the artisan’s
neighbourhood of San Blas, the convent of Santo Domingo that has been built on top of the Temple
of the Sun or Koricancha, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman or “sexy woman”, Qenko, Puca Pucara and
Tambomachay. You should also visit outside the city the area of the Sacred valley of the Incans,
several beautiful places there where people still keep their traditions alive. A lot of activities to do here
such as quad biking through the salt mines of Maras, zip lining outside the sacred valley, rafting,
bungee jumping, sling shot, awesome treks, there is definitely a whole lot to do during your stay here.
Food is also really good, vegetarian people if you’ve been suffering then Cusco is definitely your place
to enjoy, great restaurants, I personally like the Green Point, Greens or Organika. For the meat lovers I
highly recommend you eat some Alpaca, especially Alpaca burgers at Papacho’s restaurant which is by
the Plaza de Armas, anyone willing to try Guinea Pig or Cuy? Cusco is a good place to go for the
experience and do it. If you have been missing good proper breakfasts then make sure you hit Jacks,
absolutely delicious. Now for the ones who are on their way to La Paz we also have a sister company
called Bolivia Hop that goes from Cusco to Puno, Copacabana and La Paz, same system hop on hop
off, tour guides helping you cross the border without problems, etc. I am now going to pass by your
seats and give you all a map of the city of Cusco with your hostel being highlighted there, the Peru
Hop office will also be highlighted so you guys can come around and give us some feedback about
your trip, it is the only way we can grow and we only aim to get better and better, also if you did the
trip with us coming from Lima all the way to Cusco and you want to get an official Peru Hop t-shirt for
free then all you need to do is come to the office in Cusco and tell us a joke, then they’ll check your
name on the system and you will get a t-shirt of your choice, easy as that, and for the ones planning
on booking Bolivia Hop on your way to La Paz then come to the office here in Cusco, tell us another
joke and you will get a $10 discount, but it has to be done from the office for you to get that discount.
Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer.

Now regarding activities, I would highly recommend findlocaltrips.com… findlocaltrips.com, you can
basically search for activities and it will not only list different activities you can do but also different
tour operators, that way you can compare prices, check other travelers’ feedback on their service, etc.
It’s a pretty good independent website and the good thing is that you don’t need to haggle around,
that would be my tip for who you should book you activities with, basically you check, compare and
you decide. (Then connect with the farewell speech. (Then connect with the farewell speech).

INTRO FOR AREQUIPA FAREWELL

Alright guys, so we are now on our way to Arequipa, we should be arriving there at around 4:30-5:00
am and start the drop off process, now the thing you need to keep in mind is that even when your
welcome packs say pick up time from 5:15 through 5:45 you still need to be ready at 5:15, basically
your next tour guide depending on where he finishes his drop offs he will decide which hostel to go
first and which last, so you could be the first hostel he chooses to pick-up from or the last, either way
you need to be ready at 5:15 so you don’t delay him or everyone else who needs to still be picked up,
anyway we have a very good pick-up system so you shouldn’t be waiting for long at all, IF by any
chance there is a delay we will be calling your hostels to inform you about it and the expected arrival
time, however we are usually very punctual so please be ready on time.

LIMA, AREQUIPA AND CUSCO FAREWELL

Now guys, you have all nearly reached your final destination...I don´t know if you want to cry or maybe
are already sick of seeing us Peru Hop guides!! I hope you have met some great people on the bus,
made new friends, and I hope that me and the other guides have helped you guys get to know my
country in a safe and fun way. I am really proud of working with Peru Hop...I know we are for sure not
perfect, and we always are learning, and maybe our English is not always so good, but why I love this
company is because all of us really do this job because we love showing tourists that Peru is a safe
and beautiful place. We hope that if we can show you guys that, then you will go home and tell your
family and friends and hopefully even more tourists will come to Peru and this country can keep
growing.

I know maybe some of you don´t know me so well, and others have been with me for a few days, but I
hope that every Peru Hop staff you have met in the office, or in the buses, or even on the emails, has
been friendly with you, and that you are happy with the Peru Hop trip. If you have any advice for us to
get better, please do go to our offices and talk to the managers because I know they always like to
