To Whom It May Concern:

I highly recommend Katlin Moran as a candidate for the elementary teaching position at your school. As her
mentor teacher, I spent the last semester watching her learn and grow as a professional. She spent the semester
observing, assisting, and teaching lessons in reading, spelling, grammar, and social studies. Our school and
classroom has a very diverse student population and over 80% of our students are on free and reduced lunches.
The makeup of our school provides challenges to even our most experienced teachers.

Katlin is organized, driven, flexible, and keeps a positive rapport with both students and staff. She is very
knowledgeable of the content areas she has been teaching and is always prepared to teach her lessons. As she
begins to take on more responsibility within her student teaching semester, I am confident that she will continue
to display the same work ethic. Katlin responds well to constructive criticism and takes suggestions into
consideration when modifying current lessons or preparing for upcoming lessons. She is confident in her
abilities to assist students and is always willing to jump in and assist where she is needed. She is not afraid to
implement new strategies and is very reflective in her teaching. She attends professional development days,
weekly PLC meetings, Data Crunch meetings, and carries out before and after school duties. Throughout the
first semester, she has displayed many personal and professional qualities that are normally attributed to
outstanding teachers. She is a very responsible and dependable teacher candidate.

During her internship semester, Katlin assumed the duties of planning and teaching reading, spelling, and
grammar lessons two days per week. She also planned and taught a social studies unit over geography, in
which she used technology to introduce Mystery Skype to the students. This activity reinforced their map
skills, helped build their general knowledge of the geography of the United States, and kept 100% of students
engaged in the lesson. Because of her creativity and enthusiasm for the lesson, the students responded very
positively to it.

I have been impressed with her ability to manage a daily routine and keep behaviors under control. Her
classroom management techniques are consistent and fair for all students. She is very motivated to become the
best teacher she can be, she has a desire to continue to learn and grow personally and professionally, and is a
model of an excellent teacher. I would strongly encourage you to interview and give serious consideration to
this prospective teacher. She would be an asset to any school.

If you have any further questions with regard to her background or qualifications, please do not hesitate to
contact me.

Sincerely,

Carrie Lance
